I am really looking forward to the Coleman Angus sale next week. They will be selling three flush sisters to our senior herd sire Coleman EXT 6149 lots 3, r and 5. The 6149 bulls calves have been favorites since he arrived they come small grow fast and our deep and soggy. The first group of heifers out of the bull will be calving this season I am excited to see how they perform. For us the proof of a bulls worth is in the production of his progeny. We used a son on heifers last year and have held him to use again this year he is a lot like 6149 deep and wide with an excellent disposition.

I won't be bidding, I can infuse the genetic line into my herd faster with my bull than I could by purchasing. I did buy eight embryos from Coleman last year four out of N Bar Kinochtry Bty V1498P X 6807 the first calf hit the ground yesterday it was a heifer so I wa really tickled about that. We really wanted to add this genetic line into the herd so now we have a start, hopefully she will be as good as her dam. The other four are out of N Bar Miss Emulou G4709 X EXT I know your not an EXT fan but I really think this is a mating that should work. The actual due date for the calves is Oct. 8th so I am getting really excited.

Certainly sounds like some neat matings. Better check those embryo recips tonight, had all of our AI cows due on the Oct. 8th already had 5, including 3 today, could have two more by morning. Especially with the low pressure moving thru here..

For sure this has been the strangest start to calving we have ever had so we are keeping a close watch. We had five yesterday none due till the 7th and that is the AI date then we have ET calves due on the 8th. We already have 15 on the ground one final answer three weeks early I was worried about because he was so small looked at him today he is already a stud. They are coming tiny and growing like weeds.
