Another Shorthorn Cow

Awfully nice pair! How is she bred?
Your grass is certainly ahead of ours. Except for last night, we've been getting down in the low 20's- high teens at night. Makes it fun trying to irrigate. Just can't seem to rain (or snow) in these parts.

Thanks for the comments guys,D.R'S we have had an early and exceptional spring here.I told someone the other day that 10 more like this will make up for the last two winters and springs we have experienced here. The cow represents the 7th generation from my original Helianthus 44th cow purchased in 1973.The cow's sire Wolf Ridge High Level was imported in Dam from the Gafa herd in Alberta in 1999.Just about the time I realized what he was doing for me,he was struck by lightning and I kept every daughter I had.The calf is one of the first heifer calves sired by Kaper 4508 who in turn was sired by Kenmar President 26a.Born in 1969 the President still has one of the highest accuracies for carcass data in the breed to this day and is plus for marbling and REA.The dam of 4508 is bred quite similer to the dam of the cow.

R.N.Reed-

You told me what quality Shorthorns you were developing when you were here a couple or so years ago, and this is a "Prime" example of what you were telling me about your program! What a top line, and phenotype exudes from her in bunches and groups! Well done!

Thanks Greg (KMacGinley) for the 'picture help'!

DOC HARRIS

Doc,I have always been critical of that topline from day one and a bad one still can pop up from time to time, keeps a guy humble.
Roan,I AI on the first natural heat and will most likely breed her back to 4508 based on what I am seeing from his first crop.I will then turn out my 108 bull who is better than a 3/4 brother to her.The 4508's are in the 75-85 range and the 108's are running 84-90 lbs.

Ok, looked at your web site, are you selling semen and what company is carrying it?

Got lucky with the camera last week, this cow is a 3/4 sister to the one I posted afew weeks ago

Very very nice cow but would like to see a little nicer udder just for "looks". But it looks very functional so forgive me. ;-)

Texasbred,How could I not forgive a fellow Texan! Besides if she was perfect I would have to quit.
