Another fencing question

I have 2 more question.

1. I got 9 ga. wire to wrap around my H braces to provide tension. How many wraps should I use. They didn't have enough at the store to do it all so I will probably use 12.5 ga. bobwire for the remainder. I am planning to twist the wire for tension. Is this a bad Idea? If so what is the best method.

2. What do you use to pull tension evenly on woven fence? All the wire tighteners I have seen are for single wires.

For pulling woven wire tight I sandwich it between two 2x4's .Then put chain around the boards and pull until tight with a come along.

Use through bolts to tighten the 2X4's on the wire.

To answer number 2 I used two 2x2x1/4 angle iron drilled so I could bolt them togther and create tension to hold the wire. I also had a larger hole close to the top and bottom to recieve two clevis that I then attached a chain to for pulling. It is a little slow but does a great job.

1. I use the 12.5 guage brace wire and just make two complete loops, then twist with a piece of pipe or rebar or... I think it makes a nicer looking job and is easier to work with than that 9 guage wire.

2. I have a 3pt mounted wire unroller that holds the woven wire upright, it has an arm that swings around to clamp the wire and hold it while the tractor stretches it. But two 2x4's would serve the purpose a lot cheaper.

For woven wire, I also use the wood clamps. I use a pair of 2x6's and have about 5 bolts through them to hold the wire. The 2x6's work better than 2x4's when you come in from the creek with a mess of small mouth bass, goggle eye, and channel cats and you need a board to filet on. If you are just using them for wire stretching, the 2x4's work just fine.
