Angus Pathfinder Cows

At the risk of sounding like a complete knucklehead.. What is a Pathfinder cow? I used to think it was a line.. "sired by Pathfinder" but now I think I'm wrong. It seems that a really good producing cow is called a Pathfinder. :help: I'm so confused! :???:
