and the weight tape called her 1786lbs...

which makes you wonder how much more feed that extra 600 pounds requires.

She is a big cow. I do prefer them closer to 1400 myself, but you take what you can get and she's been an easy keeper. On the dairy BCS system of 1-5, I'd put her at a 3.5 right now. When I'm next to her I almost can't see the top of her back, and I'm 5' 4", so she's pretty tall too.

Here she is...on the right, of course.

Been working on getting her halter broke (no, don't laugh) as I'm about ready to sell her. She's generally pretty cooperative but I'm certainly cautious around her - nearly 1800lbs is a lot of cow. (So far she doesn't realize how big she is - thankfully!)

Goodness lol she is a big girl. I've never seen a Holstein cow weigh that much.

How old is that calf at her side? Looks like one of ours just not as big.

One big cow, Milkmaid! And a beautiful photo, with that bit of red on the bushes in the back, almost like one of those old oil paintings. Nice!

that weight isnt really that much.i sold a cow a few yrs bacl that weighed 1680lbs.i know alot of daityman that have 1700lb cows.

The calf at side in the photo had an 8/3/05 DOB, weaned at 630lbs, and her twin weaned at 650lbs for an ADG of 2.03 and 2.14lbs, respectively.

Feed bill's not too bad, msscamp. Right now I'm feeding...oh, just a little under 1 bale of grass hay per day for her. She's dry. Prolly comes out to 40lbs/day, maybe 50. $24/ton hay so it's pretty cheap.

Beefy, nope, have to offer a little more. 'Sides that, what would shipping an 1800lb cow cost you? :lol2:

she would be great in commercials.

Are you telling me she isn't in commercials? :o I could have sworn I saw her just a day or so ago in a commercial for California cheese! Must have been her twin, I guess.

she reminds me of one the cows that knocked on the farmers door and then ran away.

LOL. No msscamp, wasn't her you saw. She's been in my pasture since early October. :P

She might be a good commercial cow but I'd prefer to send her back the dairy route. She's due 7/24 with a holstein heifer calf (via ultrasound) so hopefully that'll make her attractive enough to them.
