Had my second case of Anaplasmosis this year. The first one was a cow I bought at the begining of the year. I hoped that she had gotten it from a cow in her previous herd or a deer. I treated and seperated her from the rest of the herd and then shipped her. This was about 2 or 3 months ago. This past Friday I had a cow that I've had for about 4 years come down with the disease. I've treated and seperated her. I'm thinking about testing the herd every 6 months for about 2 or 3 years and has I come across infected cattle selling them untill there is no trace of Anaplasmosis, then rebuilding my herd. My vet said to treat them as they get sick or even if I suspect one of being invected. It seems to me that this will cost more in the long run than selling then rebulding, because I'll have a herd of carriers infecting every replacement cow or bull I buy. If anyone has suggests or has had this problem in the past please post them.
