I've been chopping corn, storing for Winter. Got about 400 tons sealed up. Still lots to go. Might be time to take off a few days for some bird hunting, camping, hiking, etc.

Here's my thoughts. If you have enough feed to get you through the winter, take some time for yourself if that's what you want to do.

I have some fun stuff I want to do but I have to get the hay in the barn first. Once I have enough hay I will go play. I will have more hay to cut but it can wait for a week or so while I enjoy myself a little.

Just go and have fun. I always tell my husband that if a few days is going to break us then we probably wouldn't make it anyways ;-) . So far we are still going strong. And we took a WEEK off this summer....

A whole week......How lucky . We haven't had time. We were going to go the coast the week after July 4th. But.......
Anyway to answer your poll. Have fun while you can .The work will always be waiting on you.

Okay, these thoughts come to mind. . .

Make hay while the sun shines (#1)
The early bird gets the worm (#1-ish)
All work and no play makes Mnmt a dull boy (#2)
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink (What???)
A man is known by the company he keeps (#3)
When the going gets tough the tough get going
A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link
Today is the first day of the rest of your life
A fool and his money are soon parted
A friend in need is a friend indeed

Okay, I've lost it. I vote #4. :) :) :)

Have a good time and if you don't shoot anything else at least shoot some pics and post them for us.

Take some time off if you can afford to. Most injuries happen when we are under a lot of stress and pushing ourselves too hard. Relax and have some fun.

Hey! Thanks All for your support 8) I Voted Ummm Work Comes first.

Boss Ladies vote is the one that really counts. :)

This is something we discuss often, my hunting trips. :o

This trip wasn't suppose to happen till late Sept.

Anyway, Seems the time is right. :???:

I mentioned my plans, Sunday morning. She looks up from the Western Livestock Journal, gives me the LOOK.
I know it well there are conditions

These hunting trips have beeen going on for 30 years now there are conditions :? :?

She will pail feed the calves, like always. Not a easy job when you've already put in a days work. :(

Conditions;

Winter MAX 100 Breds

Save no more than 5 heifers :help:

All Young stock gone, sold by the time new crop expenses in the Spring :frowns:

Or else, Boss lady, MAYBE won't be happy.

I think Boss Lady may be right

First weekend of college football. I've got hay on the ground, but I don't care. It hasn't rained here in two months. I'm in heaven until the 4th quarter, who'd of known a little college like App St. would take my Wolverines to the woodshed.

I go storming out of the house to bale hay. I'm hotter than the fourth of July. Got cooled off later though about 1/2 way through when the rain started. Spot showered for a week.... So I spent the week flippin windrows.

I gotta go with work comes first.

the work comes first.but while your working you must keep your mind clear.so you wont have an accadent.when the work is done you can play.

MAN  You folks are some hard workers. :cboy:

Yeah, work comes first almost always. No frost up here yet, the corn is ripening but will not lose much moisture in a few days. Deer and other wildlife are causing loss, some bottom leaves are falling.

Only 1 person  thinks the cattle forums can't get along without mnmt. ;-)

mnmt, forcasting frost here tonight. Go play, sounds like your in good shape for now. Listen to that Boss Lady though, sounds like she knows what shes talking about! ;-)

Boss Ladies vote is the one that really counts.

Methinks you need to re-assess your situation up there ole buddy.

You need to "Bow Up" and show her who's boss.

1-Go hunting without telling her you are leaving.

2-When you get to your hunting spot, call her and tell her to takes care of all your chores!

3-When you return home, walk in the door and tell her to unload the truck, and wash up all your clothes before cooking dinner!

Stand up and be a man!

I have tried to hunt while there was work needen done. Could not relax and enjoy myself. Might as well get the work done then go hunting. But then, the work is never done! :o :o I hope you enjoy your work. :)

Somehow I think if he tried that he either
A- Wouldn't be standing long
B- Wouldn't be a man for long
or
C- Wouldn't be a standing man for long

;-)

Based on these instructions, I'm thinking A) You have no need for sleep, and know how a washer/dryer work - not to mention how to mop a floor/clean a house. B) You like your own cooking - probably should have a subpart of A. C) You have no clue what the term 'divorce court' means. D) You have no assets/income so you're unconcerned with the term 'divorce court'. E) You're a flipping idiot!

No, I didn't click a button but, to me, this is a no-brainer. The time to take time off comes AFTER the work is done, and you know you and your cattle are in good standing for the winter - not before.
