I was planning on selling our only non-papered cow (second stage, third pregnancy) in Feb. at our local barn breeding special. She has a horrible disposition and we can't register any of her calves so she's definitely an odd woman out. But this morning I caught her getting some milk from a preg.(with her second) cow that we had weaned her calf off of her Oct. 1st. I don't know if she's the only one, but she was already on strike 3, now she's on strike 4. I could take her this afternoon for our weekly Wednesday sale. One though I just had too was maybe it'd be good turnout today with the cold weather and it being the last day of the year also?? Probably get more for her at the special, but commissions are higher then too.

Any thoughts or advice??

Around here there are no sales between xmas and new year.
Make sure they have a sale before you head out.
Alot of buyers are off for till after the 1st.
i would wait or sale to private person.

Why would you pass a problem cow off to someone else?

There is a sale today for sure.

I wouldn't sell this cow private to anyone. I want my money out of her for sure, but that will be left up to the sale barn market

If i had one i wanted gone id be askin myself why im on CT and not puttin her butt on the trailer. If you hold out she could end up dead tomorrow.

If the calf was weaned Oct 1st chances are she's not getting anything. Certainly a bad habit though.

Pen her up, perhaps with a companion (unless you want to be fixing corrals) and ship her when you can.
