Have any of you seen or used this bull or seen or heard about his progeny?
I'm trying to track down some more info apart from what the semen catalogues provide.
Based on his Australian EBV's I can see that he is low birth, high growth with good carcase attributes. He scrotal EBV lets him down somewhat but I have good fertility in my herd so I am will to take that risk.
I am paid by weight on the rail in the butchers shop so I think this bull could do that for me and at $16 a straw and in a commercial only herd, I haven't seen anything else like him.

I have not seen this bull, but I have seen many others with similar breeding and EPD's. I understand your desire to acquire as much information about him as you can prior to your using him in your breeding program, but with what information is available regarding him from whatever source it is obtained, I certainly would not hesitate to include him in your mating protocols - IF - your cow herd EPD's are what you say they are!

Lee Leachman used Bon View New Design 1407 in his mating protocols several years ago with great success, one of which is the genetic blending of Daughters of SS Objective T510 OT26! Infusing the Genetic influence of both 1407 and SS Objective T510 OT26 and considering the EPD's of Alcoa New Standard 427 (which you should certainly do with vigilance in analysing "Multiple Trait Selection choices, I totally concur with you considering your "commercial only" herd! (With very scrupulous attention to BALANCED MATING GENETICS given to retaining replacement heifers, you could probably improve your overall cow herd genetics by sneaking in a few outstanding heifers! ) In My Opinion, this bull has excellent Production EPD's (with the exception of his scrotal readings), a little too much Milk, and I would like to see a higher $EN number. But - for a Terminal producer his Carcass data is very acceptable, and all of his Accuracies are more than desirable - overall. Where else would you search to find these qualities for $16 bucks a straw??

"He who hesitates - loses advantages". or some such "old tyme" saying as that!

I wouldn't hesitate, to tell you the truth!
