Governor Signs DOT Bill Into Law
June 7, 2007
This morning, Governor Bob Riley signed the Cattlemen backed HB 432 into law. This law will exempt most vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating under 26,001 pounds from excessive federal DOT numbering requirements. This is the relief Alabama's agriculture industry has sought for the last year through the cooperative efforts of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association, the Alabama Farmers Federation, the Alabama Forestry Association, the Alabama Poultry & Egg Association, and the Alabama Department of Agriculture. The legislation will now be sent on to the Federal Highway Safety Administration to allow for the check of compatibility with federal regulations before implementation.
The Alabama Cattlemen's Association thanks Governor Riley for his continued efforts in support of Alabama's beef cattle industry.
