This is too sad to be true but I swear it is.

My 78 year old mother on a domestic flight from Denver to Phoenix was strip searched in a wheelchair. She told them she has a prosthesis from having had breast cancer and was embarassed to remove her Bra. They said they didn't care and to remove it. They took her shoes and lost them for close to a half an hour and then hurt her trying to "HELP" her get dressed. What a crock of Bull.
 
OMG! :shock: That is one of the worst cases of security run amuck I have ever heard. If I were you, I would be getting ahold of some big dogs at TSA and sending out certified letters and getting somebody fired, if not sued. What a total lapse of judgement and sanity.

I also flew in and out of Denver this week and sailed right through security. I was expecting the worst after the recent "underwear bomber" case but it was no different than before.
 
3way that is the most asinine thing I have ever heard in my entire life. I think you need to take legal action. Since when are they profiling 78 year old caucasian females in wheel chairs. Last I heard it was Islam males 20-35 that were Al Qaeda's target group. I fear we will be hearing more of the atrocities in the future as bit by bit we have our freedom and dignity stripped from us. The best thing that airports could do is give complete control of security over to the military ,they know who the terrorists are.



I am very sorry what your mother went through, there is absolutely no excuse for treatment like that. :( I have so much more to say but I will leave it at that..
 
Same here a few years back. Mom was 88 then and has two prosthetic knees which set of the metal detectors. I tried to explain to them what was goin' on and they almost threw me up against the wall.

As a result of the heavy handed tactics at the airports I don't fly unless I absolutely have to. And I ain't afraid to fly, just my way of rebelling. Are you listening, Continental/TSB? One other gripe and this smacks in the face of "profiling" but I've got an American flag tattoed on my chest and I don't wear a turbin. I guess it's better to pEss everybody off than to offend someone who fits the profile.
 
Three years ago we were flying into the US from Mexico. We had to change planes in Phoenix. While we were waiting to clear customs we had 3 very well dressed Arabs of some kind in front of us in line. They were all between 25 and 35 and VERY arrrogant about the whole process. All they did was jabber in Arabic and make fun of the whole process in English. In front of them was a caucasian couple in their 30's with a toddler and a baby in a carrier. They took them apart and ignored the Arabs. I was furious. My wife saved me from jail that day believe me. If I would have had my way those 3 would have been strip searched in front of everyone.

Actually all I really wanted to do was whip their a---s. I told the wife that I was purty sure I had them outnumbered. She pinched me so hard I bled. I was forced to recognize a superior opponent at the point, and shut up and behave.
 
Israeili airports are among the most threatened in the world.
But they don't rely as much on the the scanners, rent a cops and electronic wizardry and intrusive policy.
They profile heavily - race - religeon, sex and age.
They also have among the safest airports in the world.
 
This is exactly what we will be facing until americans grow some balls and get to the point that we're not scared to hurt the feelings of some ragheaded camel jockey.

We really don't care if they blow our planes out of the sky. The important thing is that we didn't hurt their feelings.

Almost enough to make one puke.
 
TSA employees in the airports are definitely not the creme de la creme. They do love to show their authority in the most rude, ignorant ways. They've been stepping over the line with their poor behavior more and more. Idiots need to have a knot yanked in them...

You are exactly right ALX, and the military controls security. When the first GW declared war on Iraq the military took over most airports in Europe. The Amsterdam airport had tanks in side it and officer's armed with AK47's . Maybe that is what we need to get back to, I know I would feel a h@ll of alot safer flying with professionals taking control.

Actually HD, although I haven't been there myself, it is much more subtle. Thats the key, the bad guys win when everyone has to be afraid and treated like a criminal.

I am at the nuke plant working 4 days a week. I have to wait in line for my truck to be searched, shut off the engine (got to be safe so its a rule) and open my tool box when it is finally my turn. Once I finally get parked and walk to the entry, I have to go through the explosive sniffer, the the metal detectors just like folks do at the airport. Then I go to the office. Not even to the plant itself.

Cal, 911 added twenty minutes to my morning every morning. Some days it is more. It will never change back to what it was before.

3 way I am very sorry about the humiliation your mom went through. It just aint right.
 
3ways I am very sorry to hear that about your poor Mum, I can't say what I really feel as I think the whole of CT would be taken off of the network. It is coming to something when they treat an elderly lady like a bit of trash. I would complain and make a big fuss, call the local papers if my Mum would allow to show up these no-gooders, they need to look at the bigger picture and seek out the real colporates. I saw one of these new screening x-rays they are going to use at airports, not sure I would want to fly again if your privacy is going to be invaded in this way, surely sniffer dogs would be more appropriate, they seem to do a good job at most other places. Things like this make my blood boil. :mad: :mad: :mad:
