I have a client wonting to AI 100 Longhorn cows..... What would be the better breed to use as a Sire... Thanks :???:

What's he going to do with the calves? If he's selling registered Longhorns, then breed them that way. If the calves will be sold as commercial animals and the cows are young, I'd breed them to a calving ease Angus bull. That would take the horns off most of the calves, turn most of them solid black and they should calve easily. If they're mature cows, I'd look at an Angus bull with a bit higher birth weight EPD, TC Total, Net Worth, Foresight come to mind. They'll still take the horns off most of the calves and turn most of them solid black.

I have to disagree, Frankie. We breed Blk Angus to some LH cows we have, and we do have mostly polled calves, but very few that are solid black.
Have a look @ my avatar ---->

I saw a 100+ head that had been bred to Charolais they had some 600 weight calves that were some good looking calves most were yellow with little to no horn they were out of big cows and I don't know if I could have told they had longhorn in them if I had not seen the cows
