[QUOTE="VanC, post: 848436, member: 3355"] Feeling old is as much a mental thing as it is physical. Physically, I started to feel it when I was in my mid 40's. I'm 57 now. That's when I had to give up softball because I kept turning ankles and pulling muscles which caused me to miss time from work. Knees and lower back started giving me trouble at work, too. Gave up booze and can't eat some of the things I used to. Have to be careful in the hot sun, which I never had a problem with when I was younger. I've learned to pace myself instead of going all out like I used to. All in all, I'm still doing pretty good. Still working a physical job, but not as demanding as when I drove for UPS. From what I see every day I can still out work most men my age and a heckuva lot much younger than me. A lot of that has to do with the desire to do a good job and not just the ability. The only birthday that ever bothered me was when I turned 25. I guess it was because I was on the downside to 30 and that seemed really old back then. Never given it a second thought since then. I was actually counting the days to 50 because that's when I was able to start drawing a pension from UPS. I don't really feel as old as I am, not that 57 is all that old. I have so much to be thankful for, especially my five grandchildren, that I don't dwell too much on getting older or worrying about what used to be. I'm pretty happy with where I'm at right now.
