Advice for the showring

Help Support CattleToday:

What I have noticed is when leading the animal the exhibitor's hand will have the thumb pointed at the exhibitor, while setting up the animals the hand and thumb are in the other direction (They have also switched hands at this time). I think it is easier to get the animals head in the proper position with the thumb towards they animal, yet all you have to do to control they animal if it acts up is roll the wrist towards you moving the thumb towards you in that one motion.

Don't know the reason or if there even is one but today in the States they teach the kids to hold the lead with the thumb pointing to the animal.. Personally I don't think it matters. I think it was one judges idea somewhere that now everyone thinks is the only way to do it.
