In short, young holstein bull that'd been hurt while breeding. Vet thought he should be sent to slaughter and that he wouldn't ever recover. We elected to give him 60 days away from all open/cycling cows, and see how he was after that.
I let him service a yearling heifer at the end of the 60 days and had a full breeding soundness exam done - everything checked out a-OK and he's working again (actually went back to the herd in January).
