Here's a spring 07 Murray Grey purebred heifer:

Here's the link to the "gallery" page where she will
be shown with some others that are in the auction:

To show the animals in advance of the auction, the
software requires me to insert some type of dollar
price. I picked 999999.99 so that people looking at it
would realize that the listing price was not real.
I think I put 1.00 on that young bull however :o
but surely no one thinks he will sell for 1.00!

This software has several features that we will not
use, i.e. "instant purchase". The "reserve" price is just
the price below which the seller will not sell. The way
we have it set up, that opening amount or reserve
price is listed as the beginning or floor at which the
bidding must begin.

If someone bids the opening price that is shown and no
one else bids, then the animal sells for that amount.
The bid increments are $100 except for the semen
and embryo category, and I think those are 25.00 or
50.00. If no one places a bid at the opening amount,
then the animal does not sell.

If any of ours do not sell, we will post them on our
assoc and farm websites for sale----or just keep them.

I think there is going to be some real bargains this year.
The young heifers will go for 1200 to 1900 probably.
Bulls from 1500 to 2000....bred cows from 1200 to
2300 or so. And a group of percentage heifers(bred)
at a real bargain.

As always, location plays a part. We plan to give a discount
to people that buy multiple animals from us and come to
our farm to pick them up. Also I have a contact that is
going to be hauling animals from the west coast to New
York later in October that indicated(at least preliminarily)
that he would haul others on the way if arrangements
were made to share fuel costs.
