This is my senior herd sire 108.Both his grandams are ASA pacer performance dams and out of the same cow.His first two sons had a 4.4 and 4.52 IMF at 8 1/2 mo, no creep and a 1000 mi trip to western Ne.60 days on a growing ration. His best calf in his first crop was out of his mother.I still can't figure this picture thing out!

last red poll herd i remember was in the 80's the old man sold the herd out before he died.. the only one i ever had i traded some mechanic work for

That is a fine bull indeed R N.
I looked for a shorthorn bull like him for a while down this way and never got close.
Very nice.

Thanks for the comments everyone.Jeanne,it was a planned mating.I have always done some linebreeding but added some outcrosses in the late 90's and am now in the process of tightening things up again.Inbreeding up front usualy lets you know if its worthwhile to follow a linebreeding program.Almost my entire herd is probably 50% or better related to 108 and so far I have been happy with the results.

JHH,Like most breeds there are 2 camps of breeders. The show oriented breeders want color and the commercialy bent breeders want them red for the most part for the appearance of uniformity.

Can you post a link to his pedigree or e-mail it to me please? I am interested to see how you weave the pedigrees together in your linebreeding program. Thanks.

Knersie I am not computer savy enough to send a linc. You could go to the ASA home page click on search the breed click animals and his reg# is 4111136.Unfortunately you cant go back in the pedigree far enough to see the linebreeding far back but you can click on his progeny and see the breeding of his offspring.

Great bull RN. You should put him up on steer planet and show those people there is something other than Trump. I applaud your efforts on your breeding. It's breeders like you who will help shorthorn come back to commercial acceptance. I am good friends with Sue and she speaks highly of you. I will look you up on my next trip west for sure for a herd visit.

Trevor,I like to stir things up as much as anybody but never a hornet's nest.I look forward to your visit.
