Seeing Alan's handsome colt prompted me to post pics of our new filly. She'll be 4 weeks old tomorrow (she was a Friday the 13th baby!). Her mother is a Thoroughbred and dad is an old foundation Quarter Horse.

Her dam's name is Wildwood Lady and her sire's name is Docs Dee Bar Star. We named the filly Docs Wildwood Trick - not only was she a Friday the 13th baby, but mama kept trickin' us into thinking she was ready to foal. I was up in the middle of the night for almost two weeks checking on her and waiting on the baby.

Not a thing in the world wrong with those Hancock horses!! I love the cross of a foundation horse with a thoroughbred.

Here's a picture of daddy. He turned 26 this year - he was a rescue horse 3 years ago. When we bought him he was almost starved to death. Our 4th baby out of this stallion is due any day now. Not bad for an old man! He's a great grandson of Doc Bar on the top side and a great grandson of King P-234 on the bottom side.

Here's the link to his pedigree - and mama's too.

Rutt Ro... Another Raise a Native horse. :D We have two. One (TB) is a grandson of Mr. Prospecter the other (AppnQH) is a grandson of Majestic Prince. Both my Debby's old show horses.

That stud does not look 26 years old. He looks dern good.

If Chopper makes the cut We're probably going to try for his Supreme Championship. All we need is the money.Z

MillIron, not only does he look good for his age, but he's the sweetest natured stud I've ever been around. He's not aggressive, no bad habits, and the mares follow him around all starry-eyed.

Believe me, he did NOT look like that the cold, rainy day in March we brought him home. He was standing in a dirt paddock with two geldings in the pouring rain. He was so thin he was shivering all over. My husband and I went home and got the trailer and brought him home ASAP. We decided that we could easily find him dead the next morning, but he would have died dry, warm, and fed.

Three years later we have a two year old filly out of this same thoroughbred mare, a yearling that's a full sister, and now this filly. The Duck Dance mare is due any day now and I can hardly wait to see what her baby looks like - she's a big mare with a super disposition. In the meantime, King (as we call him) is busy with an Impressive mare and a Moon March mare.

Bless you for saveing him..Did anything happen to the ijits that got him in that condition?

Peg, sadly not. We bought the Thoroughbred mare (with a two week old foal at her side by this stallion) from the same person. When we went to look at the stallion we were told we could breed to him for $400 or buy him for $500. Even I can do the math on that one. Even if I could find a horse with his bloodlines and breeding these days, I couldn't afford to buy him. He was a bargain and a blessing in so many ways!

WOW, very, very nice looking foal! Great pedigree, wish mine was a filly. One of the nicest foals I've seen posted.

Alan

Thanks, Alan! What a nice thing to say. I think she's turning into a pretty girl.

I'll have to post some pictures of her yearling full sister. She's bay like her mama, but she's her daddy's baby all the way. As someone said to us last week while gawking over the fence at her, "She's gonna be the whole package." Yep, I think so too. :D
