"red" has quite a method here and does a super job of explaining things.
I think this is good for youngsters to read. And good for adults to read that have strayed from the easy does it method of learning a calf's personality before breaking it's spirit with a halter and a firm hand.
I printed it and gave to all my livestock showing 4-H members.

Good sound advice that we use and works great. To add to the 'calves that don't like the sharpness of the scotch comb' we also use a stimulator comb and they seem to like that. :D

But that is very good and helpful advice. :)

I know from experience, being calm with them works so much better. It doesn't matter what size they work better and cooperate.

This is the method we used at our high school and I've posted on it before with little response. This builds much better trust with the calf so that he/she is much more willing to work as you move little by little. This is a method that I've rarely seen not work on a calf, and that I will continue to use as long as I need to break calves.
