Was talking to the neighbor today (while removing my yearlings from his yard  ) and he told me a truly tear jerking story and I thought I'd share it with you all.

Neighbor was driving to Madison, WI last sunday. En route got a fuel leak on the car. They stopped in a small town at a service station. The attendent said he wasn't able to fix the problem and referred them to a cantankerous feller around the corner. Told them that he may or may not fix the fuel leak, all depended on his mood. So they gave him a try anyhow. Mechanic looked over the car and assesed the problem. Then decided that he wasn't working on that type of car today. In their conversation the mechanic asked where they were headed. Neighbor told him that they were taking their son's car to the airport to pick him up. He was just in from his duty in Iraq. The mechanic promptly fixed the fuel leak. And when the neighbor asked what they owed him he said that their son has paid that bill a million times over and to make sure they got to the airport in time to get him picked up and not a dime exchanged hands.

Thank you to all the Men and Women who are serving and have served this great country. God Bless You All!!!!!

Now that's showing appreciation. We need to hear more of these. I know given the opportunity, I would do it. Least we could do to show our thanks. After all they lay their life on the line for us.

This is one of those "hard to believe" type stories. Neighbors tend to exaggerate to show off at times...

I cannot let this go, despite your pitfull pleading

First of all, you do not know my neighbor.
Secondaly, I posted this as a small tribute to the soliders. And for some unknown reason you had to chime in and bring it down with your worthless opinion. YES I AM YELLING!!!!!
And finally, I trust my neighbor with my life and my family's life.
Just because you and/or your neighbors are not trustworthy enough to be taken at your word DOES NOT MEAN EVERYONE ELSE IS.
Lord help you. You are going to need it.

I was talking with a couple last week who are collecting children's used shoes. Their son in law is in military in Iraq and became concerned seeing children in cold weather with no shoes. He asked his family to send shoes. Others heard of it and started bringing them shoes. Then a student organization at a university became involved and they told me the drive for shoes has really grown.
They also told of how he said the 'good' people of Iraq really are glad they (US military) are there.

Was talking to another couple of soldiers not long back from Iraq. They were talking about how much good our people were doing over there. These two had been involved with bringing in water to some people who needed it. They just got happy talking about being able to help the people.

Saw a news report of our military helping to transport tractors to farmers. These tractors had been in storage as the previous thugs would not let the farmers have them.

Just maybe the ugly American is not so ugly to some people.

quOppose to the war on Iraq but I DO NOT oppose our troops!!! I have relatives fighting in Iraq. They do not wish to be there....they rather be home with their wives and kids... Plus, in their hearts, they feel the war is wrong for millions of reasons.... PLEASE do NOT harrass me because I do not agree with the war in Iraq! Please keep the bashing yourself, that is all I am pleading... Lets be fair, we are all entitled for our own opinions. Thank you!

Can't let this one go at all. Nobody asked you for your opinion. That person was just passing along a story the had heard. You remind me of those people that opposed the VietNam war of which I am a veteran of. I was eighteen when I was over there and when I got back after I was blown away by an RPG and walking on crutches downtown, a couple of people that I had gone to highschool with came by and one of them actually spit on me. I WAS ON CRUTCHES FOR GODS SAKE. You say you OPPOSE the war but SUPPORT the troops. Well, you can't have it both ways. If you support the troops you support the war because these fine young men and women are fighting a war. Take your opinions somewhere else. I'll get off my box now but I read stuff like that and it brings back really bad memories of people from Ca. Or. and other places that try to inject THIER opinion.

Mr. Baseball, Out of sheer respect by the author of the post, why are you turning it into a rhetoric that belongs on a CNN chat Group?I'm sure 99.9% of us liked the post, and would not doubt it's authenticity. You obviously fall in to the doubting 1/10th of 1%.You should find acceptance maybe at Liberals .com, or some other venue besides these boards.Nuff said.

Good thing you didn't mentioned the name of the town in WI. Every person from the surrounding states (MN, IA, IL and WI) with car problems would show up at his doorstep want an "freebie" fix up... People will claim they have children or relatives fighting in Iraq (most people do but some people don't...).
This is one of those "hard to believe" type stories. Neighbors tend to exaggerate to show off at times... I am not saying it is not true...it can be true or it may be false..... B.S. can be consumned with alcohol. An old neighbor of mine would come by and tell his stories. Found out that 3/4th of his stories were false or exaggeration.

Greenpasture78 AKA Baseballfan78, You make me sick,I allmost pity you,
You must lead a very miserable life, How pathetic!! to get kicked off of a discussion board, and then come back, how long did you pester Macon , to let you come back??
You bring nothing to this board , but chaos. When you were GP78 , it got to if I saw a post started by you , I just passed it up.I really wish that you would go away.
Don't bother responding to this. Any thing you post will not be read by me

I've only been a member for a short time, but you can smell trouble right thru your hard drive with this guy.Well said Muldoon. His responses just dont belong here. I have too much respect for Veterans, no matter what war/ conflict they served in. My dad and Brother are both veterans, would not change my opinion if thet never served... just the way I feel.

DUDE CHILL OUT !!! Baseball you need to back off. You think your opinion must hold more weight than any one else. Some of us do believe there are people that don't tell stories just to cause trouble. maybe you should move to france, they seem to think the way you do. if you don't like this board, PLEASE !!
MOVE ON!!

Thanks for posting this,
I'm a pretty tuff guy , But when I see a Army caravan going down the road , and cars full of Red blooded Americans Driving past them , Honking their horns , Giving them "Thumbs Up!!" I get choked up!
last week when I was at the rodeo, they had a Salute to the American soldier, Every person in the reliant stadium stood up and "MADE NOISE"
It was a awesome sight!
I am Proud to be call myself an American!!
I support My Country!!!
I support the armed forces of America!
I have not , And will not forget the attack on 911!!

Good sirs, there are MILLION of people who oppose the war ONLY... But there is NO ONE who oppose their troops! I've whack the next guy who DARES insults our troops! What happened after the Vietnam War was disguisting.... I can't believe people would spit and insult the tired brave men and women coming home from Vietnam! I love the Superbowl beer ad. Its the ad at an airport when one man started to clap, then more people clapped.....then men and women in uniforms walked by while people clapped....I was clapping and saluting too! I salute to our flag each time the National Anthem is played, I salute to every veteran in uniform, I salute to every man and woman in uniform in current action. Please stop twisting the story... You are trying to make me like an awful person! So please !

You know, you should learn that sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all.

Certherbeef,
I've noticed your profile said you are from OH but the story is out of Wisconsin.... Now you understand why I have trouble believing your story is true? How can you be an neighbor from WI when you live in Ohio? Unless you haven't changed your profile in the past 14 yrs.. I am just curious... No need to display   please....
Dumbnuts you better go back and read the post. It said the people were traveling through Wisconsin last Sunday, not that Certlived in Wisconsin.

Certherf, what a great story. I too believe. I too am thankful to all our servicemen and women both past and present. I was thankful when my cousin returned from the "Gulf war" back in the early 90's...alive and even more thankful when he returned from Iraq...alive. My brother and our family lost many friends during the Vietnam war. I respect my cousin and his fellow soldiers for doing what they do, and have thanked them and passed family members who have served.
