Curious as well as to what exactly failed and why? The Deere 8.1 in those years it's not uncommon for the pistons to fail because the piston rings are too close to the top but that doesn't look like what happened here.

Also some years of the crankshafts were known to fail because of improper oil hole sizing.

Found problem. The piston oil (jet-squirter) whatever u want to call it was plugged. Looked like old shop rag piece. Engine was overhauled 1000 hrs ago by different shop

Yikes. Somebody's poor practices cost somebody dearly.

Any chance the other shop will help make it right?

No. Been over a year and customer isn't getting any help from other shop. All back together and he is planting now.
