Sometime between now and late fall, I would like to purchase an 8n Ford for me and my son to restore. I found a few restored ones on the net. They weren't that high. I haven't found any unrestored ones. What can I expect to pay for one that:
1. Runs fine. No smoke
2. Sheet metal not big concern. I have two fenders and hood
3. Weak to bad tires. I'm a sucker for putting new tires on a restore
4. hydraulic working

around here 800 to 1200 is pretty normal i have one that i got about five years ago for 800 and its kind of rare its got a 4 speed and a sherman. i use mine quite a bit on smaller stuff i have 2 80 horse tractors that get a little big for some things. i have also moved probaly 2000 1000 pound round bales with it.

How much extra weight do you have on the front?

I wondered about that too. I have a NAA (Jubilee model). I have a home made "grill guard" that requires 2 men and a boy to install, and probably weighs 175-200 lbs. I can pick up a tight 4x5 no problem. Just have to be carefull on the hills.

As for price; I bought mine in very good mechanical condition, sheet metal is great, and tires knee deep in rubber for $1600. This tractor works great for almost everything I need. The operative words are "almost" and "needs". I just recently bought a 6610 with FEL that makes life easier. But I love the sound of that N double "A", and that fat bottom metal seat. Just something about riding her thats fun. Notice I said riding and not driving. :lol2:

He's askIng $2800, said he would take $2000. It was locked up when he bought it. He had it painted. I would have enjoyed that immensely. Also claims to have Only rain engine 2 or three hours sense unlocking it. I wonder if the engine can be trusted. I have a couple buddies up that way. Either of them would be happy to check it out for me. Anybody know if a locked up engine can be trusted after its freed?

I don't have very much extra wait at all but the front end is not on the ground all the time either it's sure not the safest way but when it is there and my other tractors are not i can get by if i stay on fairly flat ground.

I like 'em to except when I get off one of the newer ones, get on the 8n and remember it doesn't have power steering--not a problem if you have a heavy implement on the back--or your round bale of hay I guess.. I've never been around one that the float didn't want to stick on--they coulda done a better job on that carburator.
