My father has a 2009 6330 Premium with less than 600 hours on it and it quit him when he was baling. The engine would run but nothing else would move. He pulled the Hydraulic filter and this is what he found. This is only about 10% of what he drained out put all new fluids in it ran it for bout 45 minutes and did it again??? I've never seen anything like this in my life. The best way I can describe it is it reminds me of bees wax?? Any input would be great. Thanks B&G

B&G... was this tractor located where anyone could have "messed" with it? I have seen some construction equipment where vandals poured everything from sugar to sand in it and came up with stuff like you are showing. I hate to think that people would do this sort of thing... but it does happen.

Good luck in getting it resolved.

Only time I saw something like that was in a snow plow on a truck I bought that the person had used ATF in it instead of the hydraulic oil they were supposed to use.

B&G This may be totally off base but when I buy old tractors to fix and resale I put kerosene in the hydro's and then drain the system it brings out some pretty nasty stuff with it. If it were mine that's what I would do.

That is late model high end tractor. If it were mine I would not try homemade cleaning efforts. I would get a john deere tech out there. We fix most stuff here on the farm. But are not tearing into our 6430 to much can be messed up.

My Dad bought the rig just slightly used as the guy was losing it. So, not knowing what he did for sure. But, my dad can't remember ever adding Hydro fluid to it. You wouldn't think with the low hours that are on it that it would ever need any??? Thanks for all the advise. B&G

your dad is most likely going to have to flush out the hydrolic system.but personally i would take it to the JD dealership and let them deal with it.it looks like its going tobe a very costly fix.

a tractor dealer told me about the kerosene... told me they run cheap oil after kerosene then flush and put their hydro oil in it.it can't hurt the system anymore than it already is.

That is probable the problem the previous owner was losing it probable to John Deere fiance and he sabotaged it so it would cost the dealer a lot. He thought he was getting even with John Deere. If bought from a dealer then I would try to get Deere and the dealer fix it.

I'd probably try flushing it with kerosene.. you could drive it around, but since kerosene doesn't have the lubricity of oil, don't put any heavy loads or high speeds on it, and keep washing that filter.

It does sound like sabotage, and the previous owner would be my first guess.
