44 Days and counting with no rain. This season is starting just like last season for me. :frowns:

Same here. I had high hopes for rain but it just fizzles out before it gets to us. This is looking a lot like last year but at least this year there is more hay for backup.

Sorry to hear that. We have had an abundance of rain so far. I plan to start cuttiing hay tomorrow if dry enough. They are calling for no rain for the week or so. Hope yall get some rain soon.

Likewise, except I'm waiting till sunday. Rained an inch yesterday but no rain is called for till next thursday. Longest drought we've had this year. The old record for no rain this year was 3 days in a row.

Looks like we got a good chance today if the low doesn't push through too fast. I hope it stalls out on us and we get 2 inches in the form of a gentle sprinkle and folks can get back to planting. If we don't get this, its going to be just like last year with the exception of the fertilizer prices. This coupled with the drought is going to make this a painful year for many.

I'll check the fields good and may wait until Sunday also. It's going to be a good cutting I think, mostly mixed grass but it'll give the bermuda a chance to grow when I get this off of it.

Until this week, we had not gone more than 6 days without some form of precipitation since the week of Thanksgiving. Haven't had a rain since last Friday. Our alfalfa is about 10 days away, and the brome and other cool season grasses are a good 2 weeks, probably 2 1/2. Late spring this year.

heres hoping yall get some rain to make some hay.been where yall are for 3yrs.hoping for rain.when our drought broke we got all the rain the couds was holding for 3yrs.an still getting rain thank goodness.really dont know when we will get to cut hay this year.

Wishes do come true! Front moved in on us slowly and at lunch I had 1.5" , 0.75" and .25" inches in another. Slow to heavy drizzle continued for the rest of the afternoon. Flaboy, I hope you are getting some of this cause I know we all need it and some more.

Not yet but close

here in central mississippi we have gotten a nice bit of rain....i think it was 2.25 inches over the last 2 days..

Man that's a shame. I don't know what we would have done had we not gotten this rain. That high in the Atlantic needs to get on out of here and let the normal pattern come back.

Got another .91 inches yesterday. That will sure help the grass for a few days.

It will be dry again by Monday....

Sounds like you are on that beach sand like me. Heck, I sometimes find sand dollars and sea shells in the fields. Especially if we wash out a well or something.
