A 9-year-old boy in Volusia County, Fla., was charged with battery on a school teacher -- the fourth time he has attacked a teacher, police told Local 6 News.

Investigators said the boy attacked a teacher Thursday at Hearst Elementary near Holly Hill, Fla.

"Deputies also say it is the fourth time the child has attacked the teacher in the last two weeks," Local 6's Jacquie Sosa said.

The severity of the teachers' injuries was not known.

My daughter had a 9 year old go off in her classroom last year. He threw desks, kicked chairs, slung books. She sent one of her students to get the principal and cleared the classroom. The kid had enough respect for her not to go after her, but the principal wound up with a multitude of bruises.

A breathtaking number of kids are raised in circumstances that boggle the mind. No attention, no love. This kid is just repeating the only way he gets attention at home--by trashing the place. Likely mom and dad are the same.

Teachers need some protection against physical assault. We could also use more men in elementary education. Put some mature bulls in with the young ones and watch them settle down.

I used to work for Social Security disability and we saw kids that were this bad on a good day
in the office we came up with an unofficial diagnosis for most of the problems
Poor Parenting Disorder

The child is a victim of physical and sexual abuse. He'd had a tough row to hoe. He's now in an alternative school program.

I should change my last post to say, his abuser needs to be tared and feathered. this kind of crime is the worst possible thing someone could commit. If the person that did this is convicted you can bet they will get theirs in prison. Even among convicts this is this unacceptable.

A real good candidate for someone being taken out of the gene pool.

Some children suffering from different disabilities such as
autism sometimes go off for no apparent reason. Most
Resources and special Education teachers handle this all
the time. For the others bad behavior starts at home and
has to be corrected by parents before it gets out of control.

that's fair to say ordinarily, but this young boy was abused, so he had no-one to help him, with social skills and disapline, he must have been frightened of adults as he was not sure what they were going to do to him. It takes a lot of time patients and effort to deal with an abused child, to regain trust. if ever.

My wife had a boy in her kindergarten class that was virtually an animal. He had been raised in a dog kennel, fed table scraps and had no idea how to use eating utensils. Needless to say, he was removed from his parents, but he continues to have behavior problems. Probably always will.

about 4 months ago now, they found a 13 year old girl here who had been kidnapped as a small child and kept in a cupboard by her captor, fed on next to nothing used as a sex machine, she had no skills of any kind, and wondered why the police arrested the man, and placed her in hospital care. She thought it was normal and had a lot of feelings for this guy. a very sad case. when she has been rehabilitated she will be reunited with her family.

Rehabilitated? After years and years of that kind of conditioning, I wonder if that's going to be possible...

How tragic.
