2014 Hay

Still trying to get first crop cut up here. It just keeps raining every two or three days. Had another 5/8's this morning.

I thought you said you didn't put up your own hay anymore, am I wrong?

I kept a leased field and have it baled. I still got to get out there and move, load and unload it.
That field is seven mile's from the house.

How did your quantity compare to last year? We had more rain this spring and ours did much better than last year.

Well good for the cutting last year that field would have been on the third cutting.
Been to wet to put a tractor across it.

How many bales do you feed in a average year.

Used to be a 160 when I was fully stocked. I only need 60 now but consider a 100 a minimum in case some opportunity girl's come through the barn needing grociers. If I hadn't had an extra year's hay up I would not have survived the drought at all. There is no such thing as to much hay in my book.

I agree, I am going to have about 600 extra bales over what I will need for a year, and selling some has been in my mind, but as soon as I do we will have another dry year and I'll be buying it back for double what I would sell it for. Think I may just build another barn and keep every bale I can make.
