I was looking at the on-line auction on the state surplus vehicle site last Thursday. There was this F-250. Standard cab, 4 wheel drive, 6 speed, 7.3 power stroke, with 190,000 miles. The bid was at $5,700. I was going by the surplus yard so I stopped and looked at it. It is straight and clean. It starts right up and runs good. I checked the value on it. It blue booked at around $10,000. So I figured what the heck and bid $5,800. The auction didn't end until 8:00 that evening and I knew I wouldn't be able to be by a computer at the end. So I figured I would get out bid. But no one else bid. I am not sure what I am going to do with it, but it runs and drives good so I guess I have options. I know it will pull the trailer.

I had a 2002 I think but I wouldn't swear to it
It had leaf springs on the front, almost like are on the rear of pickups
That's was the roughest riding pickup I ever owned

I have a 2002 PSD 6 speed that has only 26000 miles on it. You got a heck of a deal.

Sounds like a great buy Dave! If you don't want to hang on to it I'm fairly certain you can turn it for a profit. I need to check these thing out.

It is a long bed. The only thing wrong I have found so far is that the rear brakes will drag on occasions. I will free them up and they are fine for a while and then start dragging again. The first time I thought it was from sitting for a few months with the parking brake set. The second time....? And it could just be from lack of use. The clock is still set for daylight savings time so I don't think it had been driven much since last fall. Whatever, I have enough left to do a brake job if that is needed.

2002 was the second to last year of the 7.3L, but was the last full model year as the 6.0L started at 2003.25. There are 2003 model Fords that some have the 7.3L and some have the 6.0L.

I'd say great buy!
