One of the other posts got me to pondering.
Is there still a 10 year cattle cycle? Or has the globalization of the world's economy, the government's intervention in managing our agricultural resources, imports/exports, and the tremendous competition from countries like Brazil, Australia, New Zealand eliminated or minimized the cycle? Seems beef is significantly more volatile than in past with these large upward swings and than rapid corrections. I know the drought impacted things. Some feel the dairy beef have a large role to play as well, as the bigger dairy operations seem to outprodue the ever shrinking number of little guys raising beef. Just seems like things aren't as predictable as once upon a time...and may never be that way again in the global scale environment.
