Whens it too cold for a new calf to be outdoors?

In my expereince, the yo-yo temps are more of a problem than anything, as you would know here in SW MO. 50-60 degree temperature swings are really hard on young calves. I have a climate controlled barn I raise all my bottle calves in, none go outside until weaned, but not everyone can do that...

Greetings with a cow down :(

Shot of Nuflor, Draxxin, pick one, shot of Banamane, shot of B-Vit, and get his body temp up, even an old blanket, etc., immune system won't work with low body temp. Make sure to keep hydrated. Seen it many times.

I give cows bread and now they will not leave me alone

Be very careful, yes, a more tame cow can be just as dangerous as a crazy one. I can usually just slap their noses/asses to get them away while feeding or working, but I'm dealing with Holstein milk cows that are just big babies. My steers on pasture will come when called with a bucket, but...

Bottle Calves... Give me the low down

Around here the most popular is Holstein bull calves, a by-product of all the surrounding daries. I raise about 150 bottle calves a year for my self, and contract raise about 75 a year for other people. As far as profit, it's dependent on season, market prices etc. I sell most all of mine right...
