    Dislocated Shoulder?

Dun, Your answer makes the other posting logical to me now. Mnmtranching, again I hope I did not offend you. I value all opinions, thus I come here. I feel fooling not knowing this. I will keep it alone, but will move out my good hutch and set up in a seperate dry area. Need to clean the...

    Dislocated Shoulder?

I am not trying to be a smart (rear), but are you saying if I leave the shoulder alone it will go back to where it should be? Calf is in its own hutch as it has been since 3 hrs after birth. Please, no offence, I am just wanting to learn all I can from all of you. Thanks

    Dislocated Shoulder?

When startled, or something, it will move leg down just enough to not fall over while "running" back to hutch. Otherwise, it will set it on the ground when walking, but does not put any real weight on it. There is no swelling to lead me to think joint ill. Thanks

    Dislocated Shoulder?

6 week old holstein steer calf. Temp is normal. Weaned last week. In past few days, food/water intake down. Calf is up and around. Good looking eyes, and alert ears, however worried about dehydration setting in with water intake down. It appears that its from shoulder is dislocated...

    Injury or Joint ILL??

Holstein bull calf, three weeks old. 105lbs. Temp 102.3, eating, manure, urine are all very good. Bright eyes, alert ears, etc. Yesterday calf's right knee started to swell up. The left knee had a touch of swelling. Calf will put weight on left knee, but other than walking in pen to...

calf not eating, shivering, head down

Thank you all for your feedback and guidance. Calf is coming back pretty good now. Scours did set in, but was ready for it and hit it hard. Had to tube calf for a day, but now back on a bottle. Again, thank you all

calf not eating, shivering, head down

Holstein bull calf 6 days old, 100lbs. Temp 102.6 Calf was slow to eat this afternoon. Tonight was a fight to get 3 pints into him. Holding head down, and is shivering. Manure is a touch soft, but not scours at all, (yet?) Any ideas or suggestions?

    Two calves with no eyes

Nieghbors have a milking herd of holsteins. Last two calves were born without eyeballs. Third had one eyeball, but it was blind. These were 3 of last 4 calves. No history of it before. Any ideas? He is feeding mineral and decent forage/grains.

    Redish Hair

Had that problem last spring, and added more copper to mineral mix. Problem went away.

    Cut ear on calf

Went out today to finish what was started, but found that the remaining ear had been removed without my help. I am going on the stepped on theory. Thanks for the feedback

    Cut ear on calf

Thanks, I will splurge on a new blade for my utility knife. Ear tag is on other year. I looked all over the pasture they are in waiting for things to dry out. I could not find the cause. Wondering if calf stuck head though barbed fence and ripped it pulling back out? Again, thanks for the...

    Cut ear on calf

Picture if you will. From the outside tip of calf's ear, move in towards the head one inch. It is at this point that the ear is ripped though from bottom to top. The ear tip is being held onto the rest of the ear by 3/8" of ear at the top. Do I cut it off? My concern is that the bottom part...

    Soft hoof on calf

Calf (one of twins) born 48 hrs ago. I noticed a chip missing from his front right hoof. Went to garb it, and noticed the hoof was quite soft, like it would feel grabbing a stick of summer sausage (best I can come up with). The other front hoof is harder but not as hard as his back two...

    Feet

Have one cow that I have the hoof trimmer guy come out to fix. I keep her because I use her to plant ETs in, and she has always settled on first service, and is a good mother cow.

Very sudden red nose on calf

Thanks to all for the replies. Vet came out and looked. He thinks that the calf found something to rub against. No temp, acting normal. I failed to describe the red nose in better detail here. The entire nose is not red, but only 70% of the nose, above the nostrils. Here is to hoping...
