    question about scours

Doesn't sound like worms. Pudding consistency is a good thing, make sure to electrolyte, scours doesn't kill the calf, dehydration will. Shoulda used a shot of Excede. Instead of regular electrolytes I use Diaque, works like a champ, but a bit $$$.

Scours in Calves - I'm New

I use a product called Diaque. Much more success than with regular electrolyte supplements. seems to have an ingredient that firms them up after only one feeding. Expensive, but well worth it. I use that at first sign of scours, next feeding if no improvement, I give them a shot of Excede, keep...

Very Sick Calf - and I'm a newbie!

I've had great success with Nuflor/Baytril combo. full dose of NuFlor, with a 1/2 dose of Baytril, in combo with regular Banamane injections. Could be wrong, but I heard Dex is very hard on calves? Good luck.

    Run of Bad Luck Rant!

If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all! Last 3 months has been brutal: pnemonia, hemorragic e-coli, scours, hernias, pink eye, bloat...the list goes on and on.... Luckily out of about 100 steers this year I've only lost 3, but what a pain in the A@%!!! My vet is gonna retire on the...

    Heat and sickness?

How small are these calves? Mine are suffering thru 110 degree heat indexes now. Keeping ground wet in areas helps, plenty of shade, helps, but if the breeze stops, look out! Mine are all still bottle calves, feeding closer to cooler parts of the day and feeding electrolyte supplements has...
