    Fly Control

thanks for the info. I am looking for alternatives other than buying the terribly expensive fly mineral. I usually order my mineral for the summer and fall around the middle of March and was wanting to see if there was something different I could do. I am planning on putting out dustbags and...

    Fly Control

I have heard some talk of the use of ground sea shells added to mineral for a fly control method. I have been using Altosid the past few years and am looking for something different. If anyone has any info of any sort on the subject it would be greatly appreciated.

    8,000 Canadian Cattle Quarantined!

The USDA doesn't have the time to trace feedban violations, they are too busy trying to push Canadian cattle into the U.S.

    generic ivomec

I used generic Ivomec for the first time last fall after always using name brand stuff like Ivomec, Dectomax and Cydectin. I will say that I would never use it again in my life. It was nothing more than colored water, it didn't even have an odor to it like the name brands do. My neighbor said I...

    Liquid Supplement

If you want to control consumption on tubs get them away from water. If put in seldom used areas of the pasture consumption is usually correct and it also works as a pasture utilization tool. I used to put them near water and damn near went broke doing it!

    Supplement Tubs

I guess I should have been a little clearer about retrieving the tubs. Usually I have between four and five ton out at a time and in some fairly rough country. It usually takes about 4 or 5 hours to pick up the tubs and strap them down on the flatbed trailer. Cant wait for the new tubs in November.

    Supplement Tubs

I personally use the Crystalyx tub mostly because it is the closest supplier to me and it is a coop so I also get that patronage check. Seriously though it is a good product but there are alot of other good products on the market also. On an interesting note Crystalyx is coming out with a...

    Liquid Supplement

In my experience the few companies I tried could never get it formulated right. Either the were eating way too much or none at all. I dont care for it in the pasture much, it seems to concentrate the cows more than I like. Just my 2 cents.

    hay question

Oldtimer, Up in your country you guys have had some pretty fair years recently, at least compared to us. Alot of guys from around here put up CRP hay in your country last year, no complaints other than that clown who heads that State Lands dept. is a real jerk to work with.

    hay question

Jkwilson, No apologies needed we finally had a good year out west(well at least in Montana). No hay shortages around here, cant even get rid of hay for $40/ton.

    Respiratory troubles

The naturals program is no hormones or antibiotics. If I have to treat something in the pasture before I wean it is not sent to the feedlot as natural. The premiums for the program right now are pretty good. Creekstone Farm bought my natural calves here about two weeks ago. Still waiting for the...

    Respiratory troubles

I looked at my calves in Nebraska the end of March. First time they have gone down there. Looked good but there were alot of pulls, which isn't good since I'm in the naturals program. When I got home I called my buyer of the previous nine years(from SD) to ask of any troubles he had with the...
