    DID, I agree. I guess I should pose the question a different way. Is there anything I should feed them to prepare their stomach? They’ve been eating dead bluestem and I’m worried about the rich food upsetting their stomach.

    I’m turning the cattle in on the cover crops tomorrow. It’s mainly haygrazer with cowpeas, sunflowers, plus a couple other things. Is there something better than 20% cubes to bring em all to the gate?

    Cow can’t get up....

    I have a question for the gurus that relates to this. What is the best way to give her energy/nutrition while down? I’m wondering if there is something fast acting to give a cow some strength short term to help her get up and also what are the best feeds to keep her from losing condition while down?

    Try borrowing a hip lifter from your vet to help get her up. As far as uphill or downhill, keep her on flat ground. She can suffocate under her own weight if pointed downhill. When to put her down is a hard one to answer on the internet. You don’t want to put her down but also don’t want her...

    Calf Losing Hair Just Above Hoofline

    I’m not real experienced but I’ve never seen that. It doesn’t appear swollen or irritated. My best guess would be something to do with the mud or possibly exposure to some chemical. I’d personally not worry too much but would keep a close eye on it. Maybe put them in a dry area? I’m interested...
