    Net wrap ingestion

I had it out today with some help who was putting out round bales and didn’t listen in regards to placing them where the cows couldn’t see. I didn’t want them to rush up and start eating the net wrap while it was still on the trailer. Next thing I know a water Buffalo has a huge mouthful of net...

    Johnes disease has me worried

Her jaw has looked a little loose but not persistently. I’ve seen goats with bottle jaw and she doesn’t look like that. I think either way she’s gotta go was just hoping to get a calf before then. I wormed the whole herd with the safeguard mineral wormer for a week. She ate it good I wonder...

    Johnes disease has me worried

This older cow I bought has always had really loose stool. I’ve had her a few months now and she isn’t getting any skinnier I think she’s just old. I don’t have a chute yet to even test her. She’s lost her horns due to banding and obviously she’s been stressed from the move. Do johnes cows have...

    Broken horn keeping head low

I bought an older cow who broke her horn during loading. Broke right at the skull pretty clean. Since getting her home she likes to stand with her head down and lays down with her head down. Is this due to the horn missing? Anyone ever see this?

    Mineral

Salt is the limiting factor. More salt less they can consume since they’ll self regulate the salt.

    Skinny cow

Thanks everyone I did a Cydectin pouron and am giving her grain in a bucket. If she doesn’t show any improvement I’ll call a vet.

    Skinny cow

I have a cow soon to be 3 who had her first calf this March. She was on an overgrazed pasture and probably wasn’t getting enough supplemental feeding but I was feeding some hay daily. She ended up calving and I moved her to good pasture and grass since I finally had the fencing done. She stayed...

    What are these bumps?

As of yet no hair loss. I have never seen hornflies leave a mark ever. Maybe they are to high in number?

    Heifer vomiting?

I think founder is the issue. Too many carbs too quickly ...I screwed up. Now I guess as soon as she’s better if at all I should send her to the market to avoid future issues.

    Heifer vomiting?

I have this particular heifer who has thrown up previously on grass only and I had thought she ate something bad. Recently I over fed them on corn and most were upset yet this girl was either regurgitating or vomiting. One time a bit with force and looked like a good amount came out her nose...

    Bronze streak

Like goats it is caused by a copper deficiency. Copper deficiency can do the same to black cows giving them a reddish color in certain areas. Make sure you have a good mineral with ample and proper copper and it should correct itself if that is indeed the cause.

    How often supplementing protein?

Most of my grass is either dry or very mature and some of my heifers are looking a bit thinner. I have decided to supplement cubes but wanted to know how often. I do not feed the cows otherwise since I have plenty of grass. I do provide a complete loose mineral at all times. Is it an everyday...

    New calves loose stools

I purchased a group of calves who are out on pasture. They are eating well and active but have very loose stools. They do have "dirty" tails from their stools. Honestly I am not sure if it is diarrhea or just really loose from stress or the new pasture. They are coming to feed and everyone is...
