I just got some really really bad news....

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is obvious from your postings how important your family is to you. My thoughts are with you and your family.

    Proper place for political views?

You misunderstand. I wasn't poking fun at you, because I'm sure you are joking. I'm poking fun at the idiots who actually believe those rumors.

    Proper place for political views?

That would be an odd move for a Christian. But I guess in a world where people can type on a keyboard while their heads are implanted in their arses, anything can happen.

    Confederate Surprise

Needle in a haystack. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 01518.html Maybe some of the neo-confederates on this board should get together and draft some articles of secession.

Those 'Real California Cheese' commercials just crack me up!

http://www.wlj.net/editorial/073106_hea ... fornia.htm There were many happy cows down by Fresno last summer. They were probably experiencing delusional euphoria right before they dropped dead from overheating!

Do you believe in gobal warming

I'm glad to find out that I could die from eating food. I'll stop immediately. It's also comforting to know that "most of us" are already doing what we can to conserve energy. Ridiculous. Either this guy has a screw loose, or he wasn't quoted properly by the journalist that wrote this piece.

Do you believe in gobal warming

    carbon footprint

I think it probably should have said carbon dioxide. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/co2.shtml

    dumb question,

This is probably aimed at semi-tractors more than smaller diesel pickup engines, but I would think that most of it would hold true for both. http://www.epa.gov/NE/eco/diesel/assets ... Idling.pdf

    Global Warming II

If you look carefully at the chart, you'll see that it lists both total emissions and per capita emissions. Currently our total emissions are higher than India and China combined, and our per capita emissions dwarf theirs.

    Global Warming II

That's not correct. http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/sc ... sions.html In the future it might be. That's why the problem requires an international solution.

    Global Warming II

I wouldn't argue with planting trees and producing less waste. They are both fine things to do. We changed coolants because of a problem with ozone depletion and it's my understanding this is an important but separate issue from global warming. There are other things that concerned citizens...

    Global Warming II

You're right that preserving farmland is important when talking about climate change. Not just because of the urban heat island problem, but because growing plants sequester carbon. My understanding is that during summer in the northern hemisphere, atmospheric carbon drops because of plant...

    Global Warming II

Isn't it? Sometimes there is confusion over the terms theory, hypothesis, and law because they have different meanings in common language than they do in science. I think this link is useful. http://physics.suite101.com/article.cfm ... is_vs__law

    Global Warming II

post deleted by me. It was supposed to be a joke in response to Dun's Dinosaur Fart Theory - but it could be misinterpreted as a religion thing - and I don't want to be responsible for locking this thread! Isn't there supposed to be a "delete" button when you go into edit?

? for Alice, Chrisy an Bandex Boo

I'm not sending any candy until I get that bearskin rug photo that aplusmt promised in an earlier thread. You can't imagine my disappointment when I open my mailbox every day and it isn't there.

    Global Warming II

We already hashed this over in the earlier thread. But, it you insist...... If you would have read your own source more carefully, you would have noticed that the petition had more to do with the political upshot of global warming (criticism of the Kyoto Protocol) than it does with anything...
