Saw yesterday that the USDA is looking to reschedule the sweet cheebah down to a schedule 3, along side Tylenol and steroids.
Gotta be an election year... they ought to go ahead and decriminalize ot federally. Kinda ridiculous.
Warm and wet I could handle. It's starting to turn dry here. Ground is already hard again. Regrowth isn't doing all that much.
Giving rain every day starting Friday. Hope they're right.
Just whatever is in the seedbank. Majority red clover right now. Lots of Orchard and fescue. Good bit of bluegrass. Johnson grass is even coming up. Lots of weeds. 😃
I thought the fescue had died by winter. It definitely thinned out considerably.
Hitting this stuff pretty hard. It's rested since Late Summer. Fall growth was none. The two black heifers up front are hopefully bred to ol Franchise for an August/September delivery.
Photos all taken while standing in the same spot.
Chocolate! Lol. That's what I call em. They're my favorite... hands down.
My understanding with simmentals is it is technically black i think, but it's a mutated dillutor gene. I think a rat tail or a partial rat tail can accompany the color.
She looks like a good one! If ya were near TN...
Anyone deal with pigs? I've not yet. But have an opportunity to get a young red wattle female. Have a friend with a red wattle boar. I'm considering starting some.
We've got about 30 acres of woods in back of our farm. It's unfenced and was cut for timber in the late 90's.
Can I run them in...
You bet! I'm needing 10 opens. Not 10 heavy breds with ASA numbers.
I had considered selling 10 commercials and getting those if he wasn't in a super big hurry.
I would like to get some registered girls to go with the Simme bull. Think there'd be some sense in that kind of move?
I'd rather the worms and other soil life get to devour it. Worm poo is a perfect ph of 7.
If I understand right, burning puts the carbon in the air. Id rather it go in the ground.
My 2 cents.
These chocolates are a Simmental black diluted/mutated gene type thing. @Jeanne - Simme Valley understsnds it much better than I.
I've been running commercial Angus bulls that my super awesome neighbor let's me borrow. He's got very nice commercial cattle and buys registered Angus bulls.
I...
I'm not sure what happened there. She definitely lost during second trimester if she did breed while bull was turned out. Her and another nice one calved together... very late. I recall the neighbors bull hopping over last year when there should been no need.
They calved 2 weeks before their...
I'm not really concerned with what other think. 😃 In case ya hadn't noticed. I welcome correction. That's how I learn.
I do think I'll keep an eye on things the next calving season and keep some notes. I just find it interesting.
Yessir it do. I figured it was worth a try. If no luck I'll be putting rods in for sure.
Side note - I been getting feed from your buddy Butch the last couple months.
