What Black Angus bull is visually appealing?

Frankie that's what my ai guy says about PFred too- Said he's one of the better dispostioned (is that a word?) Angus. He's used alot around here. Just thought I'd chime in with that. Susie

(pics) need help identifying calf breed

If she is dairy you should get a perfectly fine beef baby from her if you breed her to a beef breed bull. That's what my parents did when I was growing up, had some nice beefy calves from our mostly Jersey cow. She was bred to a Hereford. Yeah they may not look like the angus ads, but they...

Anyone Interested in Grass Finishing Beef?

It's definitely not cheaper to raise your own--- I know. Esp if your raising RIR or Australorps- we raise a slower-growing Cornish cross, just takes 6 weeks to be butcher size. Do 50 or 100 at a time in smaller groups in moveable pens. We picked up some used equipment that makes it more...

Anyone Interested in Grass Finishing Beef?

Just thought I'd chime in with my experience with grass-fed beef. We had a Hereford steer grain-fed for 60 days, the beef was pretty good, not great. The steer was 18 months old. He was a small framed, about 525 pounds hanging weight. Had a grass-fed steer butchered at 10-11 months ( didn't...

    need help picking ai bull

Thanks for all the suggestions! So I couldn't get off work before the AI guy showed up, and for some reason he couldn't get through to my extension at work, so I asked my hubby to pass my request on to the AI guy, what I'd like in a bull. So I got there and they had decided on Rito Rito ...

    need help picking ai bull

I was wondering if I could get some suggestions for a bull to AI my Hereford cow to. This will be her 2nd calf. I'm torn between going Hereford or going Angus, but these are what I'd like: Good feet good temperament blocky, shorter in stature, with good muscle If she has a steer it'll be...

    maine anjou french style

I looked at some of the pictures on that site- i think those are some of the most unattractive cows I've seen. I don't care for the way their under-line (is that a word? maybe it's undercarraige ? ) rises up under their abdomens. They do have big muscles though. But thanks for the link, very...

    Summitcrest Pfred

According to my AI guy, he's really popular around here for heifers- easy calves, good wean weights and disposition. He's the most popular Angus AI bull he uses ( on heifers). Bigger framed than what I wanted though, so didn't use him, but he probably would've been a fine choice. Susie

Nice Calf! My Hereford heifer should calve March 17 or so with her MG calf- I'll post the pic's- she's getting huge- hope it's just one :) BTW do they have a normal gestation time? I know some breeds go over and some under. Susie
