    Nice young Gelbvieh bull

To me a bit to young to make a call. He doesn't carry muscle down his back leg and a bit narrow behind the shoulders. But at ten months he's working on growing, not filling out.

    Nice young Gelbvieh bull

I bred one of my red poll cows to a gelbvieh and the calf was a stand out in that years group for two reasons. Firstly the growth rate and muscling was exceptional, secondly it was a complete nut job! I tried to halter break it but gave up after six weeks. I would definitely try them again and...

    Show me your herd bull

Speckle park, breed is going nuts here, cow sold for 100k a while back. Some straws of semen selling for 1000s. If you ask me a fool and his money are easily parted but whatever floats your boat hey. There is quite a few start up herds in the U.S. now, I've been following progress there.

I have some disturbing images in my mind right now.......

Electric fence first time. Questions ?

Wonder if the fence wire pierced his skin somehow, if you've ever got zapped in a cut it is a whole other level of pain and I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to sustain that very long. I had i heifer get caught in a fence once, she can't have been there longer than an hour but I'm not sure how...

Electric fence first time. Questions ?

The biggest tip i can give anyone is, do have the unit unplugged when connecting earth to it, do not have it turned on while connecting earth wire whilst having your elbow touching the output.

Electric fence first time. Questions ?

I had some units that had two outputs, full and half. You would start with full and once livestock were trained to know the hot wire put to half to keep them honest with less stress. Lightning quickly took those units out and they stopped making them so i suspect there may have been an issue...

    $100,000 cow.

I agree, and in Australia vealers make big dollars per kg compared to animals grown out and if you can speed that up it's big bonus and speckles are performing in that respect. What the dairy's are finding is the speckle crosses are growing and filling out faster and beefier than other breeds...

    $100,000 cow.

I know speckle park cattle have taken off in a big way in Australia but $100,000 for a cow is quite unbelievable, especially not being a dairy breed. https://www.theland.com.au/story/7710192/speckle-park-female-to-world-first-100000-top-at-scone/?cs=5742

    More bull criticism

Looks nice to me, maybe a bit wide in the shoulder but if his calves came out trouble free all good.

    Thoughts on this bull

Comes down to the phenotype you seek, i wouldn't touch him but that is because he doesn't have what my eye likes. To me he is very unbalanced and lacks the shape of a nicely muscled bull that i like. Looks more "show" bull to me. But I've noticed many going for that look these days.

    Young bull critique

Think you will have good results from him, nice flat muscle and a good butt.

    Added a Heifer Bull

Nice bull, very square and looks to have good hormone production so should be a good worker. Cameras can give that straight leg look so hard to tell but he sure does stride out nicely. I'd be happy to have him in my paddock.

One thing you have to say about him is he was consistent. Either way he knew how to work a herd and make nice cattle.
