    Red Charolais

A few years ago Three Trees Ranch in Sharpsburg GA had the red Charolais if my memory is correct. I don’t think they are still in business. Their reds came out of Canada. Must have been during mad cow because the boarder was closed and the day it opened they were heading to GA with a load of...

Show me your idea of the perfect cow

She just turned 16 years old in the photo and was about to wean calf # 15. Paid $525 for her when she was 6 months old. She was perfect as far as I am concerned

Some thoughts on Certified Angus Beef

Charolais. For many years I had a few black crossbred cows but when I began to start slowing down they were the first to go. The blacks were much harder to handle compared to the Charolais.

Some thoughts on Certified Angus Beef

Had a slaughter house that buys cattle from me bring out the owners and a few employees of 3 restaurants in the area a couple years ago. They wanted to see where some of the beef they serve was raised and ask questions. They were happy with the quality they were buying from the slaughter house...

Some thoughts on Certified Angus Beef

https://cookindocs.com/certified-angus-vs-usda-prime-beef/ This is a short article that would be very funny if this wasn’t how people in the US thought. I don’t know any thing about this publication or writer but it’s out there and at least a few people will read it and accept it as the truth...

    Show me your herd bull

Crossbreed you should be pleased with the Ledger breeding in your calves. Best bull I ever owned was from his sire Bluegrass. Mine stayed where he was supposed to, gentle, easy to load, never pulled a calf, and calves that hit the scales 850 plus at 7 months. LT have been doing it right for a...

Massey, DMV in London would be a good place to start if you go that breed.

    Selecting bulls for new farm

Only one reason not to use a Charolais in my opinion and that would be if your friend isn’t using one. If you two are going to put a pot load together I would use the same breed and blood lines that he uses. ET brothers or 3/4 brothers would be my preference. I would want to mirror his...

    Bought some F1 Charbray

Ky is not normally an area for eared cattle, but always thought if you sold the 800 - 900 lb calves during late spring early summer they might do well. I hope they make good cows.

Dipping into the world of SimAngus

I have had a few. Mine have been hard to handle but raise a large calf. Without the records in front of me they probably have averaged about 1300 lb mature cows.
