Does anyone know about the South Poll breed of cattle?

So, If they are bred for grassfed operations, how would they fair with two months being grain fed?

Just for the heck of it I'll post a CharX heifer that was at a show I went to recently. This boy has his eyes closed. He is showing a full blood Charolais

    What breeds do you cross?

Sounds like you'd like the Durham Reds along with your Red Angus. I think you probley saw a friends bull I posted that looked like a Red Angus. He is nice. I see your point on frame score. Well, at least you still like red.

    What breeds do you cross?

Dun, as I understand it the breed book was opened in 1973 for milking Shorthorns and in 1979 , a provision was made for a appendix registry, whereby the offspring of registered Shorthorn bulls would be recorded but would not be registered as purebreds until they reached 15/16 Shorthorn for both...

You like big butts? Part II

You should be proud. I really hope it will be people like you who will keep the real Limousins coming for the next generations. The breeders are going to have to stop trying to make everything look the same, be the same or otherwise what becomes of the foundation stock that will be need to...

    What breeds do you cross?

Sorry Dun, I haven't heard of that one. Your the more experienced one here so I am assuming that if you have see that it is true. The Shorthorns here, are Shorthorns, not crosses.

You like big butts? Part II

I am happy to see a Limousin that looks like a Limousin and not an Angus. I went to a show two weekends ago and 98% of the Limousin their looked like Angus.

    What breeds do you cross?

Most of mine are Limousin X Murray Gray cows covered by a Shorthorn bull to get a three way cross. I wanted hybrid vigor with a twist. In my area it is hard to come by Murray Grays or Shorthorns ,as the blacks of any breeding (except those that show ear) are more popular. I liked Shorthorn...

You like big butts? Part II

I have a Limi cross heifer with a butt like that. But I would have though it was a Murray Gray cross like this calf since we don't see Square Meaters here.

    Limi vs. Angus beef ?

I have never tried Limi beef but I may come this November. I have however had to kill a 27 mth old bull last December. I pulled him from the cows in September and grain finished him for three months. He was the only bull out of twelve head ,of which four were heifers and the rest steers...

    Sorry Red Angus bull

Sure makes it hard for me to want to go straight A.I. when you could run such a nice bull in your pastures and have the bonus of just looking at him.

    Raising a Monster

    What breed is she?

    Sorry Red Angus bull

Yeah, I just took it at ramdom. He was pacing and on alert so it was harder to get a still picture. I went to the man's house that owns this bull to buy a bull and he had them both in side by side paddocks so I could see the bull he had for sale better. The "for sale" bull is a 2 year old...

    Sorry Red Angus bull

Wow Dun! Only" Sorry" that I don't own him! For someone who doesn't know how to pick a bull you sure did a great job! Why don't you hand over some of that lack of wisdom? The only solid red bull , that I know of, around me is about 35 miles away.....and he is a Shorthorn. People always ask if...
