Yes we run on about 2000 acres of state-owned Land, we border it on all edges and a lot of it isn’t even fenced and lot of it doesn’t have water on it so kinda whoever owns the water around it gets the state lease

Oh yes We used Franklin as well, but the Total cows had more size then our Franklins but our Franklins do just as good, you’ve got me thinking now, dad did say just the other day the Franklins have some of the biggest steers on them

Im looking for some TC total semen they are some of the best producing cows we’ve got, wean a 750- 800 lb steer or bull every year and their daughters are outstanding

The day we started ignoring carcass epds and started looking at phenotype and muscle and lots of milk without to much milk (it’s Hard on some cows on dry years) ours steers where heavier at weaning and the cows looked great as well

Yup we calve 1300 cows then we breed about 1700-1750 head total with replacements, we calve two cycles of heifers and then two cycles of cows we sell the rest as bred April and may calvers, we’ve done well that way we ai all the replacements and about 400 cows

No worries all good, We run on about 20,000 acres it’s Good grass growing country but the native grasses are really short so we’ve done a lot of improving pastures with tame grass, what part of Montana have you visited

We’re using our last 10 NW straws for flushing only gonna get the most out of them
