Might want to check this out, it's not a scam

What<s the matter? You voted for Home Land Security the Bush way. Now you have Big Brother and he is getting bigger and stronger. You have not seen anything yet. But that is alright... he is a Republican.

    Cow Cuddling

I don't know, they sell cow mattress up here. The dairy people really rely on them to keep their cows comfortable to give more milk. They keep their cows in a free stall barn or in stactions. Little grazing goes on in dairy country. The corn in grown in the field and hauled to the cows and then...

    pasture grasses

Also check with your extension agent and they will send you information on how to establish and grow most grasses. Louisiana is really good about assisting ranchers with this type of info. Good luck

    pasture grasses

I ranched in North Louisiana for over fifteen years in DeSoto Parish two miles south of Longstreet on LA 5. I put in Coastal and Alica. You have to keep it fertilized and maintain a PH of nutural. If clover will grow your PH should be right. I fertilized at a rate of at least 65 units of N at 30...

    Fort Worth Stockyards

Back in the Fort Worth Stock Yards hayday they mostly sold fed cattle. Both Swift and Armor Packing plants were just across the tracks from the yards.

Buying cattle at the sale barn

I wish we had a sale barn that we could buy replacements. Up here all animals that go to the barn go to harvest. Its the dairy influence, cull cows. I am having trouble finding a few 500 lb. calves to put on grass. They are just not at the sale barn.

    Favorite Brand of jeans!

It depends on "Where you were when". I like Levi jeans. But I have always worn them.

    Kubota Tractors

I had a Long 600 series, 65 hp and it was too light to pull a 6 ft offset disc. I also wanted to pull a 15 ft mower and it was too light. The fellow across the road has a Kubota and it is too light to mow mature weeds with a 5 ft mower. I would look at only three makes, JD, CIH or NH. Their...

    Riding Mowers

I have a JD 430 Deisel with a 64" cut. Today's version would be JD 425. The next one I get will be a Lexmark zero radius, commercial mower. That unit is preferred by those that earn their living mowing grass. It has to be tough and will last a home owner a lifetime. :)

    fencing

A lot of the questions can be answered by going to your farm store that handles Gallagher fencing and get their guide to bilding electric fencing. Remmeber, it is a guide.

    fencing

DR: I have a five strand hi tinsel fence around my place and I have never had a cow get out. In fact, If a tree falls on the fence all I do is cut it off and fence will pop up in its orginial position. Barb wire will not do that. I feel safe puting my T post about 50 feet apart and even place a...

    Acres to Pair

It depends on the annual rainfall. In the east you may be able to maintaine a higher stocking rate than out west. Up here in Wisconsin you can run one pair per acre and cut hay to feed in the winter. The temps get so low here that it may require more hay to feed, the required 180 days, that you...

    fencing

:D I think you could cut cost by using High Tinsel wire with a high voltage intergizer. It is sold in 4000 ft rolls and is stronger than barb wire. You could use a bracing system called Push-A-Post that is easier to install and uninstall. It is strong and reusable.
