    Sync heat detection?

Oh yeah it is used with caulk gun and for estrotech or k-mars you could do lots and lots of cows with one tube. Wear gloves cause its super sticky.

    Sync heat detection?

Rust-co glue from Lowes or other similar contstruction glue works well to keep patches on. I use it for the heatwatch patches and after drying you cant pull them off and if the snag on something usually pulls all hair off down to bleeding skin. Takes months to fall off. Just what I use thought...

    prolapsed cow ? UPDATE!

A rather fast walk down hill will some times make those go back in or it has woked for me. I seem to think that an overly fat cow will do this prior to calving sometimes and you can pull the cow and modify what she is eating as in not gorging herself on free choice hay and feed. This seems to...

Good replies, just looking at what others thought on the subject.

    Something to ponder?

Just wanting to know if you have to pull a calf from a heifer or a mature cow, considering everything is normal with the presentation of the calf, do you all keep these cows or heifers after they raise a hopefully live calf or sell them off cause you had to pull the calf? And if they have a...

    Crap Shoot (AI'ing cows)

Novaman, the Heatwacth system is a transmitter placed inside of a patch you glue to the cow much like the scratch off types, but the best advantage is that once a cow is mounted it sends a signal to your computer telling you when that cow started standing, how many times she has been mounted...

    Crap Shoot (AI'ing cows)

Isn't it funny how you try and follow the AM - PM rule or try to hit the 10-12 hr. mark when you AI cows/Heifers and some seem good to go good while others well not so easy. I guess all are different but it seems some are easier to pass the gun through the cervix at 8 hrs. or much later as in...

    Lut Question

So what your saying KNERSIE is that the 14 days would be ok ? I am looking for most optimum time to give the lut shot, The two that didn't cycle are as follows, one was a first calf heifer and the other a 8 or 9 yr. old cow who I am trying to get caught back up with the rest. She calved a...

    Lut Question

I put in Cidrs on 5-10-09 gave Cystorelin, pulled them 5-17-09 and gave Lut. Bred cows over the next few days, how soon (I think 14 days) can I give another shot of lut to the ones that did not cycle to come into heat. Most of the time I breed once and kick out with bull but this year I am...

    What would you do?

Milkmaid is right on in the pic of the Herford cow vaginal prolapse. And I tried the method of waking them down hill and it goes back in, worked the first day or so but then just stayed out. I think with these things the big cause of the problem is they lay down and it starts coming out. Then...

    What would you do?

Hey thanks for the input!!!!!!!! She is fat as are most of the cows this time of year for me, on just mixed grass hay. I am still up in the air on this one, I think if I loosen the stich a few days before she calves she will be fine. I sure hope so anyway. She will definatly travel this fall...

    What would you do?

I got a mature cow that has started to vaginal prolapse. Had her stictched to keep in. She's approx. 3 weeks from calving. She's what I would call a real cow, raises a great calf every year. Here is question. I work off farm job and am not here all the time, should I keep and hope for the...

    Good Cattle Software

Little red book and a calculator. Works just fine just takes a little effort. I wouldn't try this with a herd of 100 or more though.

    Recips ???

My guess would be NO. She is probably going to be a free-martin and not breed. Although some will. Slim to none chance on getting her bred.

    Dead Cow Monday

no grain to cows, just grass and hay. If they can't do it on that then they need to be at someone else's farm who has lots more money than me.Growing heifers I feed grain to and creep the calves through the winter.

    Charolais Bloodlines

It all depends on what your looking for. Materal, terminal sires, If you already have charolais cows it seems to me that you would want to mate bulls with cows to improve quaility of thier off-spring. Just a thought

    Dead Cow Monday

I took the wife to doctor on monday gone 4-5 hrs. came home to find a heavy bred cow bloated up and dead. Cow about 7 yr. old and healthy. Stupid thing layed down in a little ditch about 5 inches deep and 4 ft. across to drain run-off water. Looks as if she layed down got on her side/back and...

    What a great day. NOT

To Guru, I used all mature proven cows as recips, using unproven heifers seems not the best decision to me. Don't like having to pull calves either. Thanks everyone for your support with my loss.
