I'm not sure how they do it, but I'll let everyone know after I go. I am hoping that someone in here has been and will let us know how it was.

    New Cow Pens

I allowed room for gravel/chert/hay/manure build up. I'm going to start with sewing fescue in there but may move to another soil covering at some point.

I left enough room on the posts that I can add a 2x6 later on if that's a problem.

    New Cow Pens

They were super easy as long as you have 2 people, just make sure that you have strong enough lag bolts/screws. I keep twisting some of mine off. No welding involved, they have inserts to link them together. I paid $130 each and that includes the brackets to screw them into a wood post. I'll...

My wife and I visited and toured Paris and the areas around Normandy and we were completely amazed at the beauty and hospitality of the French people. In this photo, you can barely see s little boy riding on...

    New Cow Pens

I'm in Chattanooga, TN, my farm is in Chickamauga, GA 22.2 miles from my home. There will be a series of moveable cattle panels re-directing flow in front of the squeeze. I'll make sure that it flows smoothly and eventually I'll build a separate pen onto the front so that cattle leaving the...

I'm guessing that most of y'all would've used metal on the barn, too.

That will be in Phase 2 of my cow pens plan for next year. Until then I'll reroute with cattle panels.

    I'm 6'1" but I have Herefords. They're pretty gentle.

    New Cow Pens

Y'all have talked me into putting cattle panels under the 5 oak boards. It should only cost about $200 more or so. I may rework the load out and the sweep to make sure that the gate and curved wall will work as a sweep tub.
