How many of you fertilize pasture.. or use open pasture/native unimproved pasture? I have to fertilize, clip, and move cattle... All are high cost.. i graze 1 unit per 1.5 acres.. and buy hay...

what is the typical percentage for cutting and baling hay in your area? My guy wants 3 to 1... I think that's too much. JMO

if conditions are very good, rain, warm enough weather. you will need about 6-7 weeks before grazing.. if you don't have fall pasture you'll have to hay... for fast grazing you will need to disc the ground to expose plenty of soil... fertilize to test, and hope for some rain... plant in late...

friend of mine nw of houston paid to get this baled and hauled..i gave him the field....cost him about $66 a bale...1100lb bales...(+- $120 a ton...)
