    Pearl millet question

Upon further review I've got a patch of red river crab grass that I need to move them to for that and bale the millet now. Now being next week. Evacuee we're picking a neighbors corn this week

    Pearl millet question

I planted two patches of petal millet this year. One I Hayes one and the other I grazed. I had planned on hating them both again close to our first frost. Average would be in 3 weeks. Some of the taller stuff that they didn't graze as much has started to head out. It's maybe 15% of the stand...

    Wheat hay

It was planted as a cover crop so even if we just roundup it and notill beans into it it's not worthless. We got another couple of inches of rain so I'm not sure I'll be able to get on the ground before it is to far along now or not.

    Wheat hay

Thanks. They never do it here but I assumed it was just because it hard to get many drying days this time of year.

    Wheat hay

I've cut wheat and baled it the next day and wrapped it with good results but it's pretty expensive to get it wrapped. Forecast is for rain the next two days but then for some good drying days. Will it still make good hay if I mow it and let it dry before I bake it? I've never heard of anyone...

    AGROTAIN Stabilizer

You said you don't change blends. I don't know how you accurately VR apply across multiple crops without changing blends. Agritain is for urea. There are multiple forms of nitrogen that don't need it.

    AGROTAIN Stabilizer

If your not pulling soil samples and fertilizing accordanly your likely wasting more money then you'd spend in agrotain.

    AGROTAIN Stabilizer

I use it. Still cheaper then nitrate.

    Stocking rate question

I don't know why it auto corrected SWMO to semi but I'm in SWMO. I planted triticale and turnips in late august and was able to graze it till April when I terminated it to plant corn. I was just running my moms on it but when it took off in the spring they couldn't keep up. Probably had a...

    Stocking rate question

Earliest I can plant it is June 1. If I harvest the wheat, which is my intent, it'll be closer to the 21st. I've planted corn in late may for a neighbor that made quite a bit of silage but we had well above normal rainfall that year. I think millet or ss is going do better for me in that time...

    Stocking rate question

As would also be an option. I don't want to go with silage corn because of the cost to harvest it. Something I can rotationally graze will work better for what I'm wanting to do.

    Stocking rate question

If your going to graze the triticale or cereal rye I don't think it'd be to mature. I've planted triticale and turnips in august in semi and not had problems.

    Stocking rate question

I'd think winter wheat would be a better option.

    Stocking rate question

I'm thinking about double cropping with something other then beans this summer. Thinking about trying some kind of forage, maybe pearl millet? I'll plant it after wheat harvest in mid June. Just lookinging for an estimate of how many feeders I could run on an acre? I'm trying to figure out...

    How to graze wheat?

The reason I asked is I saw a neighbor that has far more experience then me turn his cows in on some wheat that had just come up. Can you turn them in on it to late. I mean I know you can but how late is to late? I turned some in on some last spring that they hadn't been on and it was...

    How to graze wheat?

That's pretty much what I've been doing but rotationally grazing more then splitting the field but I like the sounds of that.

    How to graze wheat?

What's the best way to graze wheat? Turn cows on as soon as the wheat is up? Let it grow before turning them in? Mob graze? Rotational graze? Just let them pasture it? The wheat is intended to be harvested for grain if that makes a difference.

    Corn field to grazing

Nitrates are an issue in stalks baled in a drought. They accumulate towards the base of the stalk. I've never seen a cow grazing a picked corn field that paiduch attention to the stalk. They clean up the grain and leaves pretty good. So never say never but it doesn't concern me.

    chicken litter

Maybe in ga you can get composted litter but around here they haul it off to someone's field as soon as the house is cleaned out. It may sit in that pile for awhile till its spread but it's not being turned and having carbon added to it and the temp monitored. It's not being managed to kill...

    Corn field to grazing

Even if your machine is set perfectly there is quite abit of corn left on the ground. I try to get mine planted back ASAP. Typically were busy with harvest so they get to glen the fields for a couple if weeks. I usually put out a bale of my lowest quality hay so it's there if they want but...
