What's a fair price for pasture clipping?

That's just one customer, if I were to shred for him year round I'd never get it all done by myself. I could start in the spring and still be goin come next spring LOL

What's a fair price for pasture clipping?

I've been mowin pastures with a 15 ft and 20 ft batwing, I don't mow but about 4mph, if it's any faster, it leaves trash that will stand back up later. I charge $10 hr. using the other guys equipment. But my hubby does all repair work on the tractors and shredders. The fella pays for the parts...

    COW PIES

We use an old cross tie with holes in it for the chain to run thru. Drag it around and it smashes and drags them all real good. Works real good. Good job for the kids that are old enuff to drive the tractor too LOL

    Fire Ants

Yeap fire ants are here to stay, we don't treat them at all in the pasture. It's a loosin battle. And they don't cause that much problem with cattle, main problem is when your cuttin hay and run over a mound the cutter will throw them everwhere, or with a shreader, you'll end up gettin em on ya...

Cut hay today, 80 % chance of rain Saturday ! What to do ?

Before you go balin green hay, there's somethin else ya might wanna think about, not only can it mildew....that stuff can catch fire. Don't bleave me? try it. round balin hay, that stuff starts makin heat in the middle and will start smokin. Have seen folks put hay up while it's still too green...

Well we started rakin and balin, and had nothin but trouble with equipment...had to make a run to town for a chain for the baler, the rake wantin to bog up and not turn thru the thick stuff......we'll try to get it finished up tomorrow. pasture aeration

Loosens the soil so the roots can grow better, allows what rain that does fall to absorb more instead of runnin off. I'm sure there's more benefits than that. I spent a couple days diskin lightly about 70 acres a few weeks back and the grass there is hoppin more than what wasn't disked.

    Hay bales per acre

ok i'll jump in, we have a small hay field that's only 4 acres, it's coastal and johnson grass mixed. ( I know different type of grasses than your asking about) but on a normal year, we cut 3 to 4 times a year, and get 20 to 25 bales per cuttin and they are 5x5. That's with our normal rainfall...

Ground Drags for leveling pastures, etc.

We have the hog problem too, I'm just west of huntsville so our area is similar to yours. We use a big bridge Timber cross tie, with a chain hooked about 2 feet from each end, then put the v of the chain onto the tractor where the bale fork (back) is hooked on. It's the easiest method we've...

    Peanut hay?

if it's been in a barn where it's dry, I wouldnt see a problem with it, specially concidering how dry it's been here and the hay shortage. Thank goodness we got a couple inches of rain last week, and looks like we are in for a lil more the next few days, our pastures have really greened up and...

    hay trailers

We use a hay van, but not for long distances, hauls six rounds at a time, and is gooseneck. Have another one that piggy backs on the 6 hauler that hauls 4 more. Sure is long when ya git em all hooked up together tho.
