    Texas drought

The LBJ region is about as bad as it could be. I think they are in a D4 drought over there. It does improve as you move toward the coast, but most of us have not seen rain in 4 weeks.

Field Navigator App - How to use it.

Absolutely. I've been using it for more than 10 years. I really need to get a large screen tablet that has location capabilities, but then I'd have to figure out how to mount it inside my tractor.

Unrolling hay tip and question on older hay

What is this "muddy areas" you people speak of?;) CJ John - you said my sediments exactly.

Unrolling hay tip and question on older hay

wow, yall need to calm down. Is a fight over net vs string wrap really worth it? Goodness graciousness. There are far more important things to fight over. I can't believe anyone would choose to fight over this!

Unrolling hay tip and question on older hay

This hay was cut in 2021 when the grass was tall. The comments about the windrows was very interesting. The windrows when this was baled was very thick and come to think of it ... in some places about thigh high. I like your suggestion Fence, about the forks instead of the spears. I'll try...

Unrolling hay tip and question on older hay

I like to unroll hay to spread out the cows. I get less fighting, more polite cows that don't try to squash me. The babies get a dry place to lay and with the frequent trips to feed, the babies are very uses to humans. Keeping the waste to minimum and unrolling only what they need in a 24...

    What will kill this weed?

I use an app "Picture This" to identify weeds. It is really a cool app. It will save the photo with the description so you can build a library of weeds in your area.

Field Navigator App - How to use it.

I think he is explaining why the Bluetooth App does not work. The Lockito is a spoofing GPS app for developers to run test environments. Field Navigator will connect to the external app device just fine. (I just looked all of that up and I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!) :p:D

    2022 Hay Update

I've seen a lot of balers doing that in my area - rake and baler at the same time. I always wondered why more didn't do that from an efficiency and expense view. I don't consider myself a hay producer but over the last few years I've been blessed with substantial rain to produce much more than...

Hay stocks way down for 2022

Nationally the US is 7% lower year over year and 15% lower on the 10 year average. Regionally, it is even worse. Montana, SD, ND, WY are down 49.2%. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas are down 12% year over year and 25% on the 10 year average. Oklahoma is down 48% year over year but Texas is up 33%...

    Hay baling rates

With farm diesel over $4.25 now I'm dreading what the baler is going to charge. Thankfully he is just across the road from me. He's going to have to add a trip charge with these rates.

Field Navigator App - How to use it.

I sprayed my fields yesterday and I realized I did not explain something correctly. When you are getting ready to go out to spray, turn on your GLO, turn on your phone or tablet's location service, then open your Field Navigator App. Do NOT turn on the Bluetooth GPS app. Field Navigator has...

    Treated wood corner posts?

As said the purple means no trespassing but as I've come to find out from the Texas Ag Law doc, Tiffany Lashmet, any fence in Texas means no trespassing. We put roofing tar on the tops, but before that we cut the tops at an angle. We couldn't afford metal pipes so we put in treated posts...

Pulling 7 inch driven wood posts? Best way

I'm inclined to think there is something more than just a post under ground, like perhaps concrete or even rods on the sides to keep the post from rotating. I use my tractor to push and pull - rocking - the post just slightly, creating an air pocket on the sides of the post. Then I pull up...

Bayer declares Force majeure on glyphosate

Bayer declares force majeure Bayer AG, the maker of Roundup, declared a force majeure, meaning it may not be able to meet its sales agreements for glyphosate or glyphosate-containing products. The company's notice cited mechanical failures. This suggests supplies for postemergence herbicides...

Field Navigator App - How to use it.

You can use any bluetooth gps app but make such to read "About This App" to ensure it offers mock service. I do not see the one that has the icon I'm using. I'm looking at GPS Connector by PilaBlu right now and it seems decent enough. The developers seem very responsive to comments, which...

    Hay prices skyrocketing

Some of this is seasonal pricing. If someone asked me last August what I'd sell my 1100 pound bales for I'd said $65. Ask me today and I'll say $80. Ask me in May and it may be $50.

Field Navigator App - How to use it.

So I showed this to the developers and they said this was a really good write up but they also sent me a link for information about external GPS units that is very helpful. External GPS Antennas and GPS Accuracy

Field Navigator App - How to use it.

Here's another very useful web site to help you plan spraying applications within the next 72 hours. Aviation Weather Report - https://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/code.cgi Select your location by state then find the closest airport of any size. I think they are listed by town + name...
