    Close to $2.00 killer bulls

Bulls were off $10.00 dollars this week. Still high. They were $1.60- $1,79. Not as drastic as I had heard. Still good money.

    Close to $2.00 killer bulls

What class are you talking about. In this area cows and bulls were up. 8 weight ms up off 6-8 dollars and lighter calves 3-4 dollars. The board went down as some say due to a convenient crisis. One reason I don’t have any confidence in the market. Too many outside factors have an influence on...

And make you consider some you hadn’t planned. Have a 4 y/o and a 5 y/o that I had planned too keep at least another year. Will likely sell both if I can find one reasonable replacement. Figure both should bring over 3 thousand. Not willing too pay more than the 2 will bring. The other option is...

    Slaughter cows and bulls.

Did you watch the bull sale at the start of the Beaver, OK cow sale Wednesday? One brought $11,000.00. Way higher than before.

    Slaughter cows and bulls.

Kenny know a killer cow weighed 1,600 lbs and brought a $1.59 Tuesday. Bulls were mid to upper $1.70’s. We plan too sell 2 big bulls and several cows in the next 30-45 days. Since the culling for the drought 2 years ago what is going now are mainly good productive bulls and cows. Not really culls.

    Feeder futures

We have very few issues with heifers. Where we run ours on wheat after weaning till we breed them a neighbor will put bulls next to them never had any issue. Another neighbor does run his yearling bulls across the road from the heifers. Never an issue. Two fences abs a dirt road separate them...

    After weaning

We make the decision on when too sell and whether to wean or sell off the cow based on pasture availability for them. As to days of weaning. It used to be the barns here wanted 30 days, then 45, then 60 and now some say 90. Have talked to barb owners, feedlot buyers and managers and my vets. The...

    Cow prices

Went and watched a sale for awhile yesterday. Prices were high. A 1,500# cow brought $159.00. Calves were high. Haven’t been to one in awhile. From reports I’ve seen thought feeders were steady. Cow and bull prices are unbelievable. Not sure how high they will go.

    Cow prices

A local sale sales a lot of cattle from the eastern TX Panhadle that was hit by the fires. I haven’t noticed a significant increase in cow numbers at their sales. I was told by another barn manager they had 30 cows in their pens the night before their sale last week. They had I believe 90 come...

Taking some 8 wts today that will sell tomorrow. The barn owner said we are running out of cattle. Personally we have mainonunbers but most haven’t he said. He said unless something unforeseen happens he doesn’t see a major drop. The issue I hear is will there be enough numbers too keep the...

    Retaining heifers?

The decision is different for each breeder. We have bought replacements. Paid too prices for breds and also yearling heifers ready to breed. Have always had more culls on those we bought. Just fed and looked at our replacements. Feel they are the best we have raised as a group. Several are out...

We have some we plan too sell. Some hadfall calves. Weaned last week. They are 10 & 11 years old mainly. They received hay all winter. The winter grass is growing. If we can get some rain will sell as soon as they put on a few lbs. Plan too sell 2 4-5 y/o bulls. Both are sound and could last...

    Lightweights bust thru 4 bucks!

The heifer developers who sell heifer pairs are driving the calf market up in this area. Saw a picture of where a nice 110 lb calf brought $8.10 a lb split off an old cow. Have heard of several bringing $850.00-$950.00. Fortunately we haven’t lost any calves yet. Last spring we lost a calf and...

We have always sold when they are ready too sell. Will sell some late summer calving cows in April/May. It is similar to 2014 here. If a bull can pass his BSE test and is classified a heifer bull he will bring 5-7 thousand and some I’ve seen you couldn’t give me. Saw one with an actual BW of 40...

Warren we bought the co high seller in that sale in 22. Last year they were below 22 with the drought still in severe mode. I bid on 3 bulls today. Last week there was another sale 70 miles from us. Lower than the last 2 years. Heifers bulls were high last week. Good growth bulls very...

I fully respect your decision. Most likely I would make a similar decision. Nice too see you mention your respect for your pastures. Many over stock then either have too buy hay or sell cows. We put out tubs. Our cows graze last years grass unless we have snow covering it up.

    Calf prices

Dave each producer has too consider all options now. What is best depends on management and what that producer raises and markets. If cow/calf do they sell at weaning or retain. If a stocker there are many options. I talked to an older man last week. He said his son is buying lots of heavier...

    Calf prices

I will never say dumb or tell another producer what is best. Each situation is different. Now is a time that some I respect are considering other options than what they normally do. We retain our heifers rather than buy cows. We feel it works best for us. I know a producer who wanted too sell...
