    backup generator

Watch the government auction sales and sites on the internet. They are always upgrading their systems and you can get a well maintained generator for pennies. Natural gas or propane is the best. If you have natural available, there is usually natural still available after a disaster...

    Trailer Delivery

I was in Chicago about 25 years ago to pick up some machinery at the old Logan lathe Mfg co. I ended up at State & Dearborn at Noon while pedestrians and 6 lanes of traffic circled around the city. I was pulling a 102inch wide x 16 ft trailer behind a 85 Chevy Suburban. We had spent an extra...

    Trailer brakes

Are your controllers connected by hydraulic line to the truck brakes or are they one of those electronic that increases with the length of time you have the pedal depressed. Just my $0.02 I have one on the air brakes on my C8500 Chevy. If I really want to stop I pull the lever. The gain can...

Here it is, best tree cutter

I had one built like that to use on the front loader. I was going to weld a skid steer bracket on it. All my loaders had the skid steer hookups. A fabricator at Stillwater built it for me for over 5 years ago for about $1500. I have never had the time to try it out. The tractor I wanted to...

    Constant Velocity PTO shafts

I guess my real question is why do we need them?? We made out for many many years without them. I ran tractors for 40 years before they had them and I don't remember tearing up a lot of drive lines. I also could replace a shaft for less than $100 too. Now one of those CV shafts is over $1000

    Shredder question

I think the Hesston rotary swathers use the 00 grease. I s tarted getting it from the Hesston dealer but I go tired of paying $7 a qt for it.. I found Mystic had it for $45 a 5 gal bucket..

    Shredder question

just a note... I use 00 grease or what Mystic calls Central Lube in my bush hog gearboxes. It stays in there instead of leaking. I have even used it on truck transmissions that have a leaking PTO shaft. In fact it is in a RT913 Road Ranger. On the trucks, it is better if you let them run a...

    Constant Velocity PTO shafts

Anyone have an easy way to hooku up one of those CV shafts to the tractor? My old NH baler had jus t your s tandard PTO universal joint. My new Vermeer has that big joint with the safety cover that is as big as the front tire, and weighs as much as the back one. Sometimes I can tie a rope to...

Things are getting WAY out of hand

Use to be when the buyer thinks he paid too much and seller thinks it was too cheap, the price was fair. The emissions crap on all the new stuff is breaking down and replacement parts are not available. You can get stuck on the side of the road with the emissions junk going into limp mode...

Things are getting WAY out of hand

If you are willing to look at a tractor built in the Ukraine, MTZ/Belarus has some good reliable tractors and heavy built loaders for 30% less than the other red or green and the cabs are a lot bigger. No $2000 glass doors either. http://www.mtzequipment.com/products/tractors I bought a...

    Baler Belts

My old 648 would make a nice tight 4x5 bale. I had some problems with it and with hay on the ground I bought a 504R Premium Net. It bales nice, but the 648 has a wider pickup better for turning. I have some hay in with a bunch of trees. Have to wind through between them. Makes some really...

Rear View Camera on a Cab Tractor

I can see where that would be a concern!!!!! I drove a truck during college. Pulled doubles and triples. I hated passing. I was late many times because I would not pass since I could not tell where my back trailer was.. My driving record was spotless, so i could always get another job.. I...

    Hay baling fun

TS110 New Holland. It doesn't seem to have any opinion!! The Vermeer has a narrrower pickup where the NH had a wide one and did not miss anything. I still think the NH was/is a better baler..

I'm getting too old for this kind of crap

I would add that 2 pair of vice grips are really handy to keep the tire from coming off the rim when you are prying it over. I have worked on my own for over 50 years. I worked in an independent tractor shop with a rental fleet. Flats were my job. Put myself through college working on tractors.

    Baler Belts

A splice will not give enough slack to roll up like that. There should be a small roller on a spring that keeps the belts tight when you open the gate.
